President's Column
I recently returned from ALA’s Midwinter meeting in Denver, where I was honored to represent ILF as your elected president. Libraries all over the country are facing many of the same challenges that we in Indiana are experiencing. From funding concerns to the threat of losing our school librarians, to working to define the future of librarianship as a profession.

Update on the ILF School Library Census Survey
Great partnerships with public libraries. STEM activities. Stressed out librarian after colleague retired and was not replaced. These are just a few of the things we learned in the survey.
Thanks to over 143 volunteers, we are about 36% complete toward our goal of documenting the staffing and features of nearly 2,000 school libraries.
We especially need help in the following 31 counties
: Bartholomew, Carroll, Cass, Clark, Clinton, Daviess, Floyd, Greene, Knox, Lake, Marshall, Martin, Miami, Montgomery, Newton, Ohio, Pulaski, Putnam, Randolph, Scott, Shelby, Spencer, St. Joseph, Starke, Sullivan, Vanderburgh, Vermillion, Wabash, Warrick, Washington and White.

School Librarians, did you know?
School library budget funds
MAY
be used to pay for professional membership fees with permission of the Principal or appropriate Administrative personnel, according to ILF Board member Diane Rogers after research with her administration. The school library staff member would request to transfer money from their 22220 640 account to a new 22220 810 account and pay the membership fees from that account number. Or, a principal can approve the school PD funds be used to cover the membership cost. The decision is at the building level.
Please consider either becoming a member or renewing your
ILF membership
