Who will be jumping in the pool???

This Sunday we will provide "Thank You" cards for our Hennepin Kids to fill out, to send to Blaisdell YMCA! Write a note, draw a picture, express gratitude in a fun, creative way!

Hennepin Kids for LYFE continues to grow!  As we welcome new families, it is critical that we continuously teach new families and remind long-time families about the procedures that we have in place to keep all Hennepin Kids safe in our building.  Please make note of the following reminders:
  • There is a Self Check-in Kiosk immediately inside the double doors of the Education Wing. Please check-in your child/children every week.
  • Name badges will automatically print after you have completed check-in, along with a security badge for parents.
  • Parents should show their security badge to their child's teacher(s) when they pick them up from Sunday School.
Throughout the month of April, we will have friendly faces stationed at a table in the Education Wing to gently remind families about these procedures.  These volunteers will also help families if they find that their children are not currently in our check-in system, so that they can be entered for the following week.

Thank you for helping us maintain a safe environment for all of our children!

A sweet and heart-tugging story about bullying, friendship, and fitting in, perfect for readers of Stand Tall, Molly Lou Melon. Paula and Maggie have been friends forever. Paula thinks Maggie is the best-until mean girl Veronica says otherwise. Suddenly, Paula starts to notice that Maggie is big and clumsy, and her clothes are sort of snuggish. Rather than sticking up for Maggie, Paula ignores her old friend and plays with Veronica instead. Luckily, when Veronica turns on Paula, Maggie's true colors shine through.

The  Values Project  is a year-long initiative designed to equip families to raise children who thrive emotionally, socially, and spiritually. Get inspiration, practical ideas, family activities, and parenting tips from our network of seasoned parents and faith leaders, because it takes a village to raise a good human. Each month we'll explore a different value-like honesty, loyalty, creativity, kindness, and more.

Where You Go, I Will Go
"If your friends jumped off a bridge, would you jump too?" How many times did you hear that growing up?

"If your friends jumped off a bridge, would you jump too?" How many times did you hear that growing up? I can honestly say that when the opportunity to jump off a bridge after swimsuit-clad friends did present itself, I declined. Unfortunately, my choice probably wasn't out of loyalty to my parents and what they had taught me about thinking for myself, but more to do with my fear of heights-specifically, falling from them.

Loyalty isn't something we talk about much outside of product marketing meetings these days. It's a pervasive part of our world as consumers, but it's not on our radar much as people of faith. Maybe it should be, especially for us parents who are eager to instill in our kids the right kind of loyalty.

That's the catch, right? Loyalty is an enormous component of any steadfast relationship. But it can also mean trouble. You don't want to teach your young child to be loyal to a friend who consistently mistreats him or her. When they are older, you don't want them to feel pressured to be loyal to a person who tries to control or manipulate them or to a friend who is making dangerous choices.

So there it is: we want to teach our children to be people of integrity who are loyal to the right things ... Continue Reading
