Foothill PFA Newsletter - August 16, 2017

The 2017-2018 school year is almost hear and we are excited to begin. Last week's Walkthru was a big success! We would like to give a big thank you to all the parent volunteers who staffed the Walkthru stations and to the Foothill staff who helped plan and organize everything over the summer. All their efforts made the day go more smoothly and quickly for everyone. If you were out of town and still haven't picked up your child's schedule, you may stop by the office to pick it up but don't forget to bring your updated emergency card with you.

We look forward to seeing everyone next Tuesday, August 22nd.

PFA WELCOME BREAKFAST - YOU'RE INVITED!

Join us for the annual Welcome Breakfast for parents and staff on Friday, 8/25, from 7:45 am to 9:15 am in the Library.

Volunteers are needed to help provide baked goods, juices and fruit. If you can help contribute, please contact Christina Contreras, or directly sign-up directly on our Breakfast SignUpGenius to bring something.

FOOTHILL'S EDUCATION FUND

We are well on the way to meeting our goal for this year, but still need the participation and support from more Foothill families in order to reach it. Company Matching -- Don't forget to DOUBLE YOUR DONATION by requesting a matching donation from your employer! This is easy to do as most employers now have corporate matching forms online. Corporate matching gifts are FREE MONEY for our school, so the minute or two it takes for you to fill out your company's form really makes a difference. If you are unsure about your company's policy, search for "matching gifts" on your company intranet, or contact your HR department. Address Verification for Incoming 6th Graders

Mount Diablo Unified School District will be conducting residency verification for all 6th and 9th grade students entering MDUSD schools in August. This is a requirement for all students who enter these schools. This fall we will ensure this is the case at the three grade levels of elementary, middle, and high school by doing the verification in TK/kindergarten, 6th, and 9th grades. Residency verification is necessary to ensure that MDUSD students attending our schools are residents of their neighborhood school or are on a valid intra-district transfer.

Parents/guardians and students must adhere to the required proof of residency verification for enrollment at a MDUSD school (exceptions are made for Homeless and Foster Youth in accordance with the law).

Families are required to have three original, current forms of residency verification on file, one of which must be a photo ID, in order to attend a MDUSD school.

Lunch Period Volunteers Needed

It's that time again! As you make your school year plans, pleas e work in a few days to help with Lunch Time Activities. If you have an incoming 6th grader, this is a great way to get acquainted with the campus and start putting those new names with faces. Dates have been added to the noon time volunteer calendar through Winter Recess. Click below and sign up today - volunteering at lunch is a great way to help on campus and connect with your child(ren). Volunteers assist staff by helping to monitoring the kids in the Quad. area, library, blacktop and computer lab as well as helping hand out balls and other field equipment.

Foothill Magazine Drive!

The Foothill PFA will be conducting our annual magazine subscription fundraiser from

September 27 - October 12 this fall. Please save your subscriptions by not ordering directly from the publishers.

If you would like to place your orders early, you may do so now online at www.apmags.com. Students will receive prize credit for all orders placed from now until the sale's conclusion.

Our school code for online ordering is FOOTHILLMS .

We have over 650 magazine offers that you may order at special discount prices. You may renew the magazines you already take, order new subscriptions or give them as gifts (gift cards are also available).

This year we will be offering many more digital subscriptions for your computer, iPad, Kindle, etc. The number of titles offered digitally is increasing each year.

Aside from Educational Fund donations, Foothill's magazine drive is our sole PFA fundraiser for the school year. Revenues from the magazine drive help pay for such PFA-sponsored initiatives as
