FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
A New Era, a New Home for Center for the Arts Evergreen
EVERGREEN, COLORADO – After over 40 years of bringing the arts and the community together and over four years of raising money for a Capital Campaign, Center for the Arts Evergreen (CAE) will unveil its new home at 1318 County Road 65 on September 16th. The Grand Opening will coincide with the Opening Reception of the Rocky Mountain National Watermedia (RMNW) exhibition, a prestigious, national exhibition with a 43 year history, coming to Evergreen for the first time.

The new facility, the former Bergen Park Church, earned historic preservation status because part of the building was the Soda Creek Schoolhouse built in the 1880’s. The Capital Campaign raised nearly $1.5 million for the purchase and renovation of the structure. The new facility, which was completed remodeled on the inside, will now accommodate a larger gallery and classroom spaces as well as a stage, reception area, small gift shop in the lobby, and better equipped administration offices.

Steve Sumner, Executive Director, says, “CAE wishes to thank the numerous donors, sponsors, members and friends that made this dream come true.” The public is invited to the Ribbon Cutting on September 16 at 4:00 pm. Following will be a reception and award ceremony for RMNW until 8:00 pm. Hors d'oeuvres will be provided by Cedar 65 Bistro & Gallery.

CAE is thrilled to present this inaugural show to the community and keep RMNW in the Front Range of Colorado. Almost 550 works of art were entered from artists all over the United States. The 2017 juror, Stephen Quiller, selected 73 paintings for inclusion. As always, RMNW goes beyond the traditional transparent watercolor, and this year’s exhibition includes acrylic, egg tempera, gouache, and mixed watermedia are represented as well. Mr. Quiller selected 22 artists to receive awards for their paintings, to be announced during the reception.

Center for the Arts Evergreen (CAE) was founded in 1974. Since then, CAE has been a leader in advocacy and support for visual and performing arts in Evergreen. The year 2017 is a landmark year for CAE as it moves into its new home, the renovated and expanded "Old Bergen Church,” a designated historic Jefferson County landmark. The new CAE will allow for expanded programming, providing exhibitions, classes, festivals, concerts, and special events to serve the greater cultural needs of Evergreen.
