Johanna Hamilton's 1971 tells the story of eight activists who plotted an intricate break-in to the local FBI offices to expose the illegal surveillance of ordinary Americans. Despite searching for the perpetrators in one of the largest investigations ever conducted, the FBI never solved the mystery behind the identities of the burglars. Now the people behind the heist reveal themselves for the first time, reflecting on their actions and raising broader questions surrounding security leaks in activism today.

Alliance for Peacebuilding Publishes Interview with Abigail Disney

Alliance for Peacebuilding shares stories of peace and human security in "Women, Men and Peace," their third and latest issue of Building Peace: a Forum for Peace and Security in the 21st Century. This publication explores the issues of gender and peace through first-hand accounts of men and women peacemakers worldwide and features an interview with our own Abigail Disney:

"In making peace, there is no room for the hero narrative and we all need to understand and accept this. Peace comes because people make a decision to stop fighting. We need to begin to understand leadership not as big, heroic moments but as the ability to move people in the right direction."

VESSEL and SEEDS OF TIME

We would like to extend our congratulations to Diana Whitten and the VESSEL team for winning both the Special Jury Prize for Political Courage AND the Audience Award at the SXSW premiere!

The film is about a fearless sea captain who sails a ship through loopholes in international law, providing abortions on the high seas, and leaving in her wake a network of emboldened activists who trust women to handle abortion on their own terms.

It screened at Sarasota Film Festival this past weekend, and has several more festivals on the horizon. The international premiere will be at HotDocs at the end of the month.

See a complete list of screenings here or on Facebook.

SEEDS OF TIME continues to have a number of exciting upcoming festival and screening dates including the San Francisco Green Film Festival and the Food Film Festival in Amsterdam.

Academy Award nominee Sandy McLeod's film is about agriculture pioneer Cary Fowler's passionate and personal journey, which may hold the key to saving the one resource we cannot live without: our seeds.
