One of the most impressive 1/18 scale diecast models to hit the market this year is TSM Model's Lotus 78 Launch Version. TSM will release a second, later version of the Lotus 78 in June: Ronnie Peterson's 1978 South African GP winner. It commemorates the final Grand Prix victory of the Type 78 before John Player Team Lotus switched to the Type 79, which dominated the balance of the '78 season and brought Mario Andretti his Formula One World Drivers Championship.

The Ronnie Peterson Lotus 78 has been produced in a Limited Edition of 3000 pieces for world distribution and features several updates from the Launch Version, including sliding 'skirts' for ground effect, replacing the brushes used by Lotus early on. The model is also equiped with a higher roll hoop than the Andretti liveried version to accomodate Peterson's tall frame. In the past, TSM has provided a decal sheet with each model to complete a historically accurate livery.

We've uploaded a full photo set provided by TSM Model.  It's impressive, take a look!

Weekend of a Champion - Available May 20!

In 1971, film maker Roman Polanski spent a weekend with World Champion Jackie Stewart as he attempted to win the Monaco Grand Prix. Polanski was given intimate access to Stewart's world for three days, both on the track and off. The result is an extraordinarily rare glimpse into the life of a gifted athlete at the height of his powers.

Forty years on, Polanski and Stewart meet once again. In a remarkable post-script, they discuss the sport, both past and present, with a unique and unmatched perspective.

Three weeks from now (God willing), I'll be in Indianapolis for my 45th consecutive 500 Mile Race and participating in a 'day before the 500' Memorabilia Show for the 26th consecutive year. For the past several years, we've had a display at the 'Indy Motorsports Memorabilia Experience' at the Plaza Pavilion inside the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

In recent years, IMS has been promoting the Saturday before the 500 as 'Legends Day', adding autograph sessions, vintage race cars (on and off the track), concerts and the Memorabilia Show to the traditional Drivers Meeting, Museum and other activities at the Speedway. It's turned out to be one of the best days in the Month of May! There's no separate admission to the Memorabilia Show. If you're at the track, stop by and say hello.

Have a great weekend! Talk to you soon.
