Prattville Fire Chief Named Fire Chief of the Year
On February 2, 2017, the Alabama Association of Fire Chiefs announced that Prattville Fire Chief Terry Brown had been selected as their Fire Chief of the Year.

On February 9th, Chief Brown celebrated his 30th anniversary with the City of Prattville. We congratulate him and are proud to call him one of our own!

State Severe Weather Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday
Beginning at 12:01am on Friday, Feb 24, 2017 and ending at 12 midnight on the following Sunday, Feb 26, 2017, Alabama will hold its 6th annual sales tax holiday giving shoppers the opportunity to purchase certain severe-weather preparedness supplies free of sales/use tax.

Prattville Police & Fire Citizens Academy
Academy Overview: 
Citizens often wish they knew more about the public safety system. In turn, Prattville Police Department and Prattville Fire Department members wish the public had a better understanding of the challenges facing Police Officers and Firefighters. 
To bridge the gap the Prattville Police Department and Prattville Fire Department have joined together and created "The Prattville Police and Fire Citizens' Academy." 
The Prattville Police and Fire Citizens' Academy offers a two-way communication between the citizens, Police Officers and Firefighters, and provides a mechanism for educating the public about public safety.

Obstruction in Drainage Way Causes Flooding
During the last rain two events, City crews noticed a problem with water draining at the intersection of Kay and Doris Streets. Once the water receded, crews inspected the inlet. There was an inflated beach ball blocking the drainage pipe.

This month, the sales tax increase generated an additional $698,911.95. Thus far, the sales tax increase has generated an additional $33,033,633.46 and in that same time period, the City of Prattville has paid $33,170,508.27 toward our debt service

Engineering Takes Delivery of New Front End Loader

Up until a couple weeks ago, the Engineering Dept was using a front end loader that was purchased in 1994. That piece of equipment was originally purchased for the transfer station, which was damaged in the tornado and later torn down. Obviously, it was well taken care of by Sanitation and later, by Engineering, because 23 years is a long time for this type of equipment to be in service.
