This is the the final week of the Do Good a-thon and we're doing great. Make sure to remind those who still want to donate, they have until Thursday! We'll also be awarding prizes to students for completing their Acts of Kindness, so check them off in the Raise Craze platform.

Complete 3 Acts of Kindness and receive a collectible key chain.
Complete the Fox Mill (in-school) Kindness Challenge to be entered to win Principal for the Day.
The 3 classes that complete the most Acts of Kindness will receive an ice cream party on October 23.
The Kindness Award will go to the 3 students who complete the most Acts of Kindness, prize includes a trophy, Amazon Fire 8 HD 32gig tablet and more.

Odyssey of the Mind

Do you have a question about the teams or the program or what is it about? An information evening to answer all your questions will be held on Wednesday, October 18 from 6:00 to 7:00 pm in the Fox Mill ES Cafeteria. Deadline to enroll is October 31st. After then the teams will be formed.

Health Room Volunteer Training

We welcome volunteers to help care for our students in the Health Room. Training is provided by Fairfax County Health Department and is essential for anyone working in the Health Room. No prior medical experience is necessary.

Math Olympiad team | Gr 4-6

Tuesday pm, Oct 3 - Mar 13, 6:30-7:30

Attention, problem solvers! Registration for the 2017/18 Math Olympiad team will be open until Nov 12. The team is for up to 30 students in grades 4, 5, and 6. Occasionally, meetings will be rescheduled or relocated when other events will use the cafeteria, or when school is closed due to inclement weather. Mathletes will practice problem solving strategies. There will be five monthly contests (Nov-Mar) during meetings. The team will be run by parent volunteers, and everyone, regardless of math ability, can help! A Sign-Up Genius will be sent after a student is registered. There should be at least two parents at each meeting, so plan to attend at least one meeting. Register at www.pay4schoolstuff.com. $35 per student. All materials provided. FMES Basketball | Gr K-3 and Gr 4-6

Thursdays, Oct 19 - Dec 7

K-3/(FULL) , Gr 4-6/ 7:00-8:00 pm

This free activity is in the FMES Gym. Participants do not need any previous basketball experience, just the ability to be free of a screen for one hour a week! Experienced players are also welcome. This program is about exercise, learning the basics, and having fun! Space is limited and usually fills quickly. FMES BBall Program graduates include Jerry Sichting, Kurt Rambis, and Shawn Bradley. What is the GRACE Art Program? Established in 1976 by the Greater Reston Arts Center to supplement children's arts experience in school. Funded by our PTA, GRACE Art is presented in each classroom by parent volunteers. A few of this year's topics are Ancient Egyptian art and Andy Warhol.

What do GRACE Art Docents do? After introducing the topic for the month, you guide the children through a fun, hands-on art project using materials we make available to you. It's simple and fun!

Make sure your child, his/her class, and the fun they have at Fox Mill are part of the yearbook! Spirit days, class parties, candid shots of students working or with reading buddies, lunch in the cafeteria, field trips---we'll need photos of them all.
