Fraternal Order of Police
NEW ORLEANS - Crime remains the top issue in the minds of voters, and Desirée Charbonnet's claim as the best choice to battle crime just got a big boost from those who know the issue best: the Fraternal Order of Police (F.O.P.), Crescent City Lodge #2, has endorsed her for Mayor of New Orleans.

"Desirée understands the challenges law enforcement officers face as we work to reduce crime in the city of New Orleans," said Sgt. Walter Powers, Jr., Lodge President. "We are encouraged by her comprehensive crime reduction strategy and her commitment to stemming officer attrition rates. Desirée knows that retaining well-trained officers is not just about pay, but that it is also about officer morale, policies and procedures, and opportunities for advancement."

The Crescent City Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police represents more than 2,000 members, including over 1,000 active New Orleans Police Department members and over 700 retirees.

"I am honored to receive the support of the Fraternal Order of Police, the largest organization representing New Orleans police officers," said Charbonnet. "Making our city safer is my top priority. We will get the job done by taking a holistic approach, from rooting out the causes of crime to addressing violence. It is essential to have a working relationship with police officers. I look forward to working with the men and women of the New Orleans Police Department to implement a holistic approach including true community policing, more officers on the streets, and positive alternatives for young people."
