About Giddings and Webster

Starting with just an idea to improve mouthpieces -

Giddings and Webster has grown to develop and deliver the finest mouthpieces available anywhere.

Robert Webster has worked as a machinist and toolmaker for over thirty years.  During this time Bob has become a master at his trade - able to make any object imaginable.  Bob's demanding profession requires him to make high precision tools with machined tolerances that are literally less than a split hair.

Ivan Giddings has his masters in tuba performance from Pennsylvania State University, and is a tuba teacher and performer by trade. The teachers that have heavily influenced Ivan are Robert Harold, Rex Turner, Marty Erickson, and Arnold Jacobs.

Bob and Ivan met in November 2000, each with their first prototype stainless steel mouthpieces.  They were impressed with what the other could do, and the Giddings & Webster collaboration began.
