ATTENTION MEMBERS, ADJUNCTS, FORMER ADJUNCTS
For publicity related to the upcoming Campus Equity Week, we're looking for adjuncts or former adjuncts who have had difficulty making ends meet though adjuncting, have found adjunct working conditions difficult (no office, etc) and are willing to talk about it with radio talk show hosts and newspaper reporters.

Our goal is to find three adjuncts from each community college who are willing to do this. The ultimate goal of the publi city efforts is to increase adjuncts wages or offer better job security.

If you're willing to discuss your situation, please call Anson Smith at 860-593-8090 or send him your contact info (office, cell, home numbers) as an e-mail as soon as possible.

Many other activities will be taking place during the last week of October in celebration of Campus Equity Week, which is an international event "to bring greater awareness to the precarious situation for contingent faculty in higher education, organize for action, and build solidarity among our colleagues" ( www.campusequityweek.org).

The 4Cs will be sponsoring tables to share information at:
  • Middlesex on 10/26 from 10am-2pm
  • Capital on 10/27 from 11am-2pm
  • Tunxis on 10/28 from 10am-2pm
  • Manchester on 10/31 from 10am-1pm (in conjunction with the Student Political Action Conference)
Come by and support us! Volunteer to help staff the tables! If your campus isn't listed and you'd like to help out, let us know.

And finally, don't forget to follow us on Facebook and Twitter. We will have social media campaigns supporting the celebration of Campus Equity Week too.

Thank you, in solidarity!

Free Tickets to the Latino and Puerto Rican Affairs Commission Annual Scholarship-Community Leaders Awards
The 4Cs has been a long-time sponsor of many scholarships, including those provided by the Latino and Puerto Rican Affairs Commission. These scholarships recognize academic excellence among Hispanic students.

The scholarship students, along with  leaders who work to make the Hispanic community one where access and fairness reign, will be recognized at an annual awards dinner held on Saturday, October 17 from 7-11pm at Amarante's Sea Cliff in New Haven.

As a sponsor, the 4Cs has been given ten tickets to the dinner, which we offer to the membership. They will be given on a first come, first serve basis and any one member can request up to two tickets. If you are interested in attending the 18th Annual Scholarship-Community Leaders awards dinner, please contact Ellen Benson as soon as possible.
