Also, please be advised that Caltrans will be closing the I-10 New Avenue onramps and offramps from July 27 at 10:00 p.m. to July 30 by 5:00 a.m. In addition, Caltrans will be closing the I-10 westbound HOV lanes at Walnut Grove and New Avenue on the night of July 26 and July 27.

Jazz Nights continues at the Playhouse this Thursday with a free concert by the Yuko Mabuchi Trio with special guests Robert Kyle on the saxophone and Billy Mitchell on the keys.

Attend FairviewCon August 2 in the San Gabriel Village
FairviewCon, a superhero and comic book themed block party, returns on Thursday, August 2, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. to the San Gabriel Village! The event will include live music by home-grown band The Volcanics, costume contests for kids and adults, and convention style exhibits and vendors including comic book writers, illustrators and artists.

Join us for National Night Out on August 7
The community is invited to the Mission District on August 7 for an evening of food, music and fun from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Celebrate the importance of police-community partnerships with members of the San Gabriel Police Department, and mingle with your fellow residents. We hope to see you there!
DineL.A. comes to San Gabriel
From now until July 27, Chang’an Restaurant will be participating in this year’s dineL.A., a 15-day dining event that presents Los Angeles as a premier dining destination by highlighting the diverse culinary experiences the region has to offer.

Chang’an Restaurant will be offering prix fixe menus for lunch and dinner that feature dishes like tenderloin cubes, braised pork belly, and lamb shoulder skewers.
San Gabriel honors Wham-O at San Gabriel Blvd Bridge
The City of San Gabriel, in partnership with the Alameda Corridor-East Project, unveiled a plaque and decorative installation commemorating the history of Wham-O at the San Gabriel Boulevard Bridge last week.

Featuring decorative Hula Hoops, the bridge – located footsteps away from Wham-O’s original headquarters on East El Monte Street – celebrates Wham-O’s founders Arthur “Spud” Melin and Richard Knerr for their imagination, entrepreneurship and passion.
Summer programs come to an end August 3
Another amazing summer has come and gone for our youth programs. This season, San Gabriel youth had the opportunity to spend time at Smith Park, Roosevelt Elementary and Marshall Park.

We want to send a big "thank you" to our recreation staff, participants, the San Gabriel Unified School District and our program partners who have made this another successful summer. We appreciate your help and participation!

The class enhances the benefits of traditional fitness while minimizing the harsh impacts of traditional land exercises.
Street improvements coming to several City streets
Good news, motorists: the first phase of the 2017-18 Great Streets Improvement Project is now out for bid.

Bids are being accepted until August 2, and the scope of work includes road rehabilitation on portions of San Marino Avenue, Oak Lane, Warner Lane, Earle Street, Broadway, Alanmay Avenue, Broadway Place and Mission Drive.
SGCF awards 2018 scholarships
This year, the San Gabriel Community Foundation has revealed the name of four recipients of its 2018 scholarship grants.

This year's winners are Yadanar Aye, Marleld Duran, Samantha Egurvide and Michaela Henry. Congratulations to everyone on their well earned scholarship!
