Current World No. 2 "Vika" Drafted by Freedoms; Andy Roddick to Visit with Austin Aces

The Philadelphia Freedoms selected the highest ranked singles player, current no. 2 in the world, Olympic medalist, and two-time Australian Open women's singles champion Victoria Azarenka (@vika7) in the 2014 Mylan WTT Marquee Draft today. The selection of Azarenka reaffirms the Freedoms' strong commitment to bringing winning tennis to Philadelphia.

"Vika," the 2006 Mylan WTT Female Rookie of the Year, returns to the league in 2014 for her third season. As a recent no. 1 ranked player in the world, she is one of Mylan WTT's greatest success stories. The Freedoms will look to draft the next future superstars to join Azarenka in the Mylan WTT Roster Draft on March 11, 2014.

"This is a landmark day for our franchise and our owner, Billie Jean King (@BillieJeanKing), as we bring such a world-class player as Vika Azarenka to Philadelphia," said Freedoms Senior Vice President and General Manager Barbara Perry. "Vika will make the Freedoms a strong contender in the Mylan WTT League. We look forward to showcasing her amazing talent to our fans in the exciting, intimate atmosphere of the Villanova Pavilion."

The Freedoms selected Former No.1 in the world, U.S. Open champion Andy Roddick (@andyroddick) for a marquee visit along with the newly relocated Austin Aces franchise. Entering his eighth Mylan WTT season, Roddick, currently co-hosts the nightly sports discussion show, 'Fox Sports Live' on Fox Sports 1. Most recently, Roddick became a member of the World TeamTennis ownership group in 2013.

Each of these tennis greats will play one match this July at the Pavilion at Villanova University.  The Mylan WTT league office will release the 2014 schedule in early March.  Individual tickets go on sale April 4, 2014.

The Mylan WTT regular season starts on Sunday, July 6 and runs through Wednesday, July 23. The top two teams from each conference advance to the Mylan WTT Conference Championships on Thursday, July 24. The Eastern and Western Conference champions will face-off at the Mylan WTT Finals on Sunday, July 27, on the home court of the Western Conference champion.
