A NEW COLLABORATION

There are big changes underway for Brookfield Presbyterian Church (BPC) as they foster an innovative and creative shared ministry in partnership with Presbyterian Homes of Wisconsin (PHW). BPC has been worshipping at its current location since 1963 and is looking forward to residing in a new location as they reinvent themselves. Current construction pictures are at the church for you to share in our excitement.

While BPC is relocating into a senior living community, they will remain a separate congregation; collaborating but not merging. This collaboration allows for shared worship space for BPC and Dickson Hollow. Additionally, BPC will have office and program space in the new senior living community in Menomonee Falls. The collaboration will be ecumenical in nature as other denominations will hold worship services during the week in the shared worship space, and thus reflect the composition of the community which resides there.

The concept for this collaboration began with a long time member of BPC who is also very involved with PHW and aware of PC(USA)'s 1001 New...(READ MORE)

 IN MEMORIAM

We are saddened to inform you of the death of honorably retired Teaching Elder

Howard Quinn.   Rev. Howard Quinn entered into Eternal Life on Sunday, July 19, 2015 at the age of 90. Rev. Quinn served as a Navy Chaplin and as a Presbyterian minister in Kentucky and Illinois before moving to Milwaukee in 1961. He served at and retired from Northminster Presbyterian Church. Rev. Quinn and his wife Jane worshiped at Trinity Presbyterian  Church in their retirement. Rev. Quinn was active in the civil rights movement and lived next door to Northminster  with his family throughout his ministry in Milwaukee. He, his wife and family were actively involved in the neighbor and community opening their doors to anyone in need.  Visitation Friday July 24 4-7pm at Krause Funeral Home, 9000 W. Capitol Drive. Visitation Saturday July 25 10-11am and funeral Service at 11am at Good Shepherd Trinity Church, 3302 N Sherman Blvd., Milwaukee, 53216

We also received word from the Presbytery of Santa Fe that the Rev. John Gregg passed away after suffering a stroke on July 8th.  John was pastor at Greenfield Avenue Presbyterian Church in West Allis for 18 years and was the Stated Clerk of the Presbytery of Milwaukee for 7 years.  John is survived by his wife, Arlene, his daughter, Beth Gregg,  and his older brother, Gerry Gregg (who also was a Presbyterian minister last serving in Columbus, Ohio.).  John served churches in Illinois, Georgia, Indiana and Wisconsin.  Beth said that her dad would like to be remembered as one who always worked and prayed for Peace, Love, Acceptance, and Justice.  You can send a note to Arlene and Beth at 112 Luna Rd, Estancia, NM 87016 or  [email protected].

Please keep the Quinn family and the Gregg family in your prayers.

Jesus said, "I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live."

 FEATURED CONGREGATION

We lift up one of our congregations each week in Fresh Impressions, inviting you to learn more about your sister congregations and keep them in your prayers. This week we are lifting up:

Pastor Mark McDonough offers this prayer for you during the week:

Eternal God,

you call us to ventures

of which we cannot see the ending,

by paths as yet untrodden,

through perils unkonwn.

Give us faith to go out with courage,

not knowing where we go,

but knowing that your hand is leading us

and your love is supporting us;

through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

And this  verse from a song by the Wild Goose Worship Group that Calvary often sings in worship:

"Do not retreat into your private world,

there are more ways than firesides to keep warm;

there is no shelter from the rage of life,

so meet its eye and dance within the storm."
