Scout Sunday 2018 - A Scout is Reverent

.

When is Scout Sunday 2018?

Scout Sunday is
February 4, 2018.
.
Scout Sunday is always held on the Sunday before the birthday of the Boy Scouts of America on February 8.

(The only exception: when Feb. 8 falls on a Sunday, as happened in 2015. In that case, Scout Sunday and the BSA's birthday were both celebrated on February 8.)

Though February 4 is the official day for Scout Sunday 2018, each chartered organization may adopt any specific Sunday to celebrate. The BSA says a local church may celebrate "on the Sunday most acceptable to the pastor and congregation."

Helping Scouts Remember Sunday's Lesson.....

We somehow forget our church lessons the nanosecond we step out of the classroom.
At
At least that's how it is with me. It's not that I don't enjoy the lesson. But, by the time Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday roll in with electronic interactions, work responsibilities, and life's problems, the previous Sunday is a blur (and the previous year as well).
Do you think it is any easier for teenage Scouts with extracurricular activities to enjoy, peers to please, tests to bear, and Merit Badges to earn? No, I really don't think so.
How, then, can we help them retain the short lesson given the previous week?
It's easy. We keep re-teaching it throughout the week.
"All things denote there is a God; yea, even the earth, and all things that are upon the face of it, yea, and its motion, yea, and also all the planets which move in their regular form do witness that there is a Supreme Creator."
In other words, soccer denotes there is a God. Chess denotes there is a God. Archery denotes there is a God. All things, even marshmallows roasting on an open fire, teach us about God's existence, role, and purpose.
Therefore, it is possible to teach Sunday's lessons again as we engage in fun activities with Scouts. Merit Badges and mutual activities can reflect back on important gospel lessons taught You might help them understand how the rules of basketball are similar to life.
Why are there rules in basketball? Why are there rules in life? Just like in basketball, God gives us rules and boundaries to help us through our Earth journey. These rules protect us and help us enjoy our experiences.
Implementing a short "Scouter Master's Minute" like the one above using your Sunday School month's theme can really help youth stay in touch with Sunday's lesson.
Suggest to your Troop's Patrol Leader's Council to consider Duty to God when planning their Scouting outings and activities for the year. In addition to providing fun and entertainment, activities should build testimonies.
