Dear Community,
I am sending you this message in hopes you will be interested in becoming a team member when we have a need to open a Good Samaritan shelter. As you may remember we opened a shelter last year in preparation for IRMA. We are praying we never have to open a shelter again however we want to be prepared long in advance just in case.
In a few weeks we will be holding a community wide meeting where we will explain the role of Ben Hill County Emergency Management headed up by Sheriff Lee Cone EMA Director and Brandon Fletcher during any county wide emergency event and the very important role you can play in supporting/assisting the citizens of Ben Hill County.
Please be on the lookout for updates when I release the meeting dates and times. As a community we must take care of each other. There will be criteria for serving in the shelter and that will also be shared during the meeting.
For those of you that worked in the shelter last year I would very much like to hear your feedback as to what went well, what did not, how we can improve, what changes need to be made. We have worked on a number of known issues however we value your feedback.
Remember we are a community and communities take care of each other. I look forward to hearing from you and seeing you at the meeting. I will send out dates in the very near future. Let's help EMA and our community be ready. Thank you.
