Important Hospital Program Brings Georgia Taxpayers Big Benefits

We're excited to announce our partnership with Georgia HEART in an effort to support rural hospitals throughout the state. We're working together to increase hospital funding while improving access to healthcare for thousands of Georgians.

So, where do Georgia taxpayers fall into the mix? Beginning January 1, 2017, Georgia taxpayers will have the opportunity to make a charitable donation to a qualified rural hospital of their choosing. Not only do contributors get to pick from a number of hospitals, but they are also in control of how their money will be spent. Once the donation has been made, taxpayers will receive a state income tax credit for 70 percent of the amount of the contribution. In addition, those who itemize their deductions will be able to take a charitable income tax deduction on their federal income tax returns.

Follow these five steps to help your local hospital and Georgians:
1) Complete the HEART Tax Credit Form in the Donate Section at  www.georgiaheart.org
2) On the first business day of 2017, Georgia HEART will submit your pre-approval form to the Georgia Department of Revenue
3) Within 60 days of receiving your approval from the Georgia Department of Revenue, send your check made payable to your qualified hospital of choice and mail it to Georgia HEART at 3740 Davinci Court, Suite 375, Peachtree Corners, GA 30092
4) Wait to receive a confirmation of your donation
5) Take the credit! Georgia HEART will send you a tax receipt for tax filing purposes

Fitzgerald Annual Christmas Parade
Theme:
"The Ugly Christmas Sweater"
The annual Christmas Parade, sponsored by the
Fitzgerald-Ben Hill Co. Chamber of Commerce &
Colony Business Association, will be held
Thursday, December 1st at 6:30 p.m.

Santa will arrive on the fire truck throwing tons of candy. Local businesses, churches, individual and civic organizations, are encouraged to participate and to build colorful floats.

The parade's theme is "The Ugly Christmas Sweater".
We are asking everyone who participates and attends the parade to wear their Ugliest Christmas Sweater.
The person selected as wearing the "Ugliest Christmas Sweater" will win a cash prize.
If you don't have an Ugly Christmas Sweater, check out 2nd hand stores to purchase a sweater you can add your own touch to by using Christmas decorations.

We will be judging the person who is wearing the
"Ugliest Christmas Sweater" after the Christmas Parade
in front of the Grand Theatre.
If you would like to participate in the "Ugliest Christmas Sweater" contest all you have to do is wear your sweater and bring a $5.00 toy or a canned food item.
The toys will be given to Toys for Tots and the canned goods will be given to the Christian Kitchen.

The change to the parade theme is one that we think
will be fun and bring a lot of smiles from everyone.
Every year we have a great parade with a lot of participation and this year we want
onlookers to be part of the parade.

Give the Chamber a call for the application
