Fitzgerald-Ben Hill County Library welcomes back Georgia author Jaclyn Weldon White for a special author talk and book signing!
A former police officer, White is the author of eight books and numerous articles which have appeared in local and regional magazines. Her newest book, "The Witch of Ben Hill County," has local connections and an enticing plot!
"After thirty years in law enforcement, Emily Christopher is ready for retirement in Marchpoint Manse, an active-adult community north of Atlanta. But a dead friend's last request for justice sends her south to Ben Hill County where, determined to right a wrong, she takes on a powerful local developer. She's helped in her mission by a few good friends and a kind woman known as the local witch.
Meanwhile, things are getting interesting at Marchpoint. Along with tennis, swimming, and countless social activities, the neighborhood is experiencing a rash of petty thefts and burglaries. And who was that naked man seen slipping into the woods?
The Witch of Ben Hill County is a fast-moving mix of suspense, humor, and romance that proves over 55 doesn't mean over the hill."
Come meet this Georgia author on Tuesday, October 31st at 6pm at the Fitzgerald-Ben Hill County Library!

The Tift County Board of Commissioners held a groundbreaking ceremony on Oct. 16 for the expansion of Tift Community Health Center (TCHC). Tift County owns the building in Tifton and Tift Regional Health System (TRHS) staffs and manages the facility. The 1,000-square-foot expansion will include six additional exam rooms, a new nurses' station and support space. Funding for the project comes from a state community development grant and the Tift County Board of Commissioners. TCHC, which provides outpatient adult medicine for those who may be economically-disadvantaged, saw approximately 8,500 patients this past year--nearly 1,000 more patients than the previous year. The expansion project is expected to be completed in March 2018.

Harmony Jubilee
Celebrating A Legacy of Unity and Diversity
November 10-12, 2017
Paulk Park Campgrounds
146 Paulk Park Lane
Fitzgerald, Ga, 31750
Fitzgerald, by nature of her founding, appeals to people from every state. At a time when the fires of hatred against Yankees still burned passionately in the hearts of most Georgians, a Union Soldiers' Colony sprang up almost overnight in a pine forest only ten miles from the scene of the capture of the President of the Confederacy. That Colony, which became the City of Fitzgerald, made history peculiar unto itself - history unparalleled in our nation.
Come celebrate a legacy of unity and diversity this November at the Harmony Jubilee at Paulk Park Campground in beautiful Fitzgerald, Georgia.
This November is your chance to ride in a
Hot Air Balloon and see Fitzgerald and the surrounding areas from above! Both tethered and untethered rides will be offered (weather permitting).
You are invited to a private Wine & Cheese Tasting and Balloon Glow at Turkey Creek in Fitzgerald. (details coming soon...)
On Saturday, join us for a full day of festivities! Come visit our
Artisan Market showcasing quality handmade and homemade goods and wares crafted by local artists. The
Kid Zone will include a bouncy house and slide, coloring and hot air balloon photo-op station, and dancing, guaranteeing you'll bring home one tired kid. There will be good food and musical entertainment throughout the day. The Fitzgerald-Ben Hill County Library will be providing a Curious George
character meet & greet and story times about every hour from 10am-2pm. Civil War Encampment all day.

The Fitzgerald-Ben Hill County Library continues our "book club meets science café" series with our third program, "Pushing the Limits of Survival" on Monday, November 13, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at the Library. With the help of Dr. Bonnie Kelly, the Executive Director of Institutional Research and Planning at Wiregrass, we will be discussing Clive Cussler's book, "Arctic Drift" and diving into such questions as:
- What are we willing to do in a life and death situation?
- What would we do to save our way of life, or that of our family's?
- What drives us to compete in sport, and survive as the winner?
Free copies of "Arctic Drift" by Clive Cussler are available at the Library. Reading the book is not required to participate - all are welcome to join us for this program and participate in discussing this fascinating topic!
Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Fitzgerald-Ben Hill County Library. There is no charge to attend.
"Pushing the Limits" is a reading, viewing and discussion program for adults in communities served by rural libraries, made possible by a grant from the National Science Foundation.
Please visit our website at www.fbhcl.org or call the Library at 229-426-5080 for more information.
