Our LAST Treat - Dr. Tom Green & staff

Thank you Bishop's Country Store  & Produce (Delene Bishop)
for the wonderful treat!
In response to Shaw's inevitable closure, the Fitzgerald and Ben Hill Development Authority is working alongside the the GA Department of Economic Development, the GA Department of Labor, and Department of Community Affairs to try and lessen the blow of this news. It is our understanding that there will be assistance with programs such as unemployment, retraining, and possibly mortgage a ssistance for those Shaw employees.

In addition, we are working with our counterparts throug hout the region to assist these employees in finding gainful employment in south Georgia. Within hours of Shaw's announcement, companies from Fitzgerald, Cordele, Douglas, Nashville, and Tifton have contacted our office stating they have opportunities available. In the coming weeks, we anticipate a job fair to be held at which these companies will participate and will be looking to hire qualified people.

As tough as this is, we have to rally together as a community to make ourselves stronger, more marketable, and more competitive to ensure moments such as this are prevented in the future.

For anyone needing further information, please call the Fitzgerald and Ben Hill Development Authority at 229-423-9357.
A HUGE Thank You!

Dear Fitzgerald, Ben Hill County and surrounding areas,

After many prayers and much consideration, it is with both sadness and excitement that we announce the CLOSING of SPLENDIFEROUS FITZGERALD. We have accepted a long-term lease agreement from FASTENAL. We are not throwing in the towel, but will be further investing in Fitzgerald by expanding and remodeling our building to their specifications. We will continue to own and operate COLONY STORAGE.

We would like to thank our employees, customers and vendors for working with, shopping with and supporting us for the past 4 years and 5 months. From the bottom of our hearts WE THANK YOU and LOVE YOU ALL! Without you, SPLENDIFEROUS would not have been possible. Without you, we would not have had the vision for SPLENDIFEROUS MEXICO BEACH! We will now focus on our new store in Mexico Beach, Florida and continue to focus more on our booth at The French Market in Ashburn, Georgia. With that being said, we will be having a HUGE STOREWIDE CLOSING SALE!!!

Christmas is right around the corner, so NOW is the perfect time to STOCK UP and SAVE like never before! We will have ENORMOUS savings on all inventory, fixtures, shelving, decorations and MORE! Everything is ON SALE and ALL SALES ARE FINAL! As of now, we intend to remain open through close of business Saturday, November 5th, 2016.

With Sincere Thanks,
Jay and Beverly Hall

Fitzgerald Annual Christmas Parade
Theme:
"The Ugly Christmas Sweater"
The annual Christmas Parade, sponsored by the
Fitzgerald-Ben Hill Co. Chamber of Commerce &
Colony Business Association, will be held
Thursday, December 1st at 6:30 p.m.

Santa will arrive on the fire truck throwing tons of candy. Local businesses, churches, individual and civic organizations, are encouraged to participate and to build colorful floats.

The parade's theme is "The Ugly Christmas Sweater".
We are asking everyone who participates and attends the parade to wear their Ugliest Christmas Sweater.
The person selected as wearing the "Ugliest Christmas Sweater" will win a cash prize.
If you don't have an Ugly Christmas Sweater, check out 2nd hand stores to purchase a sweater you can add your own touch to by using Christmas decorations.

We will be judging the person who is wearing the
"Ugliest Christmas Sweater" after the Christmas Parade
in front of the Grand Theatre.
If you would like to participate in the "Ugliest Christmas Sweater" contest all you have to do is wear your sweater and bring a $5.00 toy or a canned food item.
The toys will be given to Toys for Tots and the canned goods will be given to the Christian Kitchen.

The change to the parade theme is one that we think
will be fun and bring a lot of smiles from everyone.
Every year we have a great parade with a lot of participation and this year we want
onlookers to be part of the parade.

Give the Chamber a call for the application
(229) 423-9357.
