Are You A GOAL Member?

It's not unusual for us to receive phone calls from MA gun owners who are looking for guidance and are not members of GOAL.

Often times they ask "why should I join GOAL?"   The answer is simple: "our answering of your phone call and question is made possible by GOAL members".

We are more than just a resource though, we continually work to protect & restore Second Amendment freedom, we support many education efforts including our full training schedule and we proudly represent the interests of all law abiding gun owners.

GOAL Annual Meeting

Annual Meeting of the Membership - GOAL Members Only

Please Join Us - Saturday February 4, 2017 – 9:00 AM at Marlborough Holiday Inn!

January 6, 2017

Greetings!

On July 20, 2016, Attorney General Maura Healey launched an unprecedented and unchecked attack on our civil rights.  There was no public hearing, the legislature never debated it and the courts never vetted it.

Additionally our civil rights were attacked at the local level; Lexington, Natick, Harwich and many other towns had articles filed to their town warrant.  These were a well-organized and sneaky attempt to suppress individual freedom in a way that few people would pay attention to, or so they hoped.

Make no mistake, we are in for the fight of our lives and we are counting on you to help us restore and protect our Second Amendment civil rights!

2017 will bring many challenges, the defense of our civil rights will take place in many arenas, be it a courthouse, town hall, or Beacon Hill, GOAL will be there and we will count on your generous support to enhance and enable our efforts.

This begins on February 4th at our Annual Meeting.  Open to all GOAL members in good standing, join us to find out more information about the year that was, and our vision for 2017.  As always we will have a buffet breakfast followed by the meeting information and presentations.

Please encourage every member that you know to attend, if you know someone who cares about our Second Amendment who is not a member, please encourage them to join GOAL and attend.

It begins here, are you in?

(Not sure if you are a GOAL member in good standing?  Simply choose the "Join GOAL" link and we will update your info if you are already a member.)
AG Healey is still lawlessly hiding records from GOAL's FOIA request, making a false claim that public records that her office used, can no longer be public, because her office used them.  Shameful behavior from the "peoples lawyer".
#WhatsHealeyHiding?

Last week we appealed the non-response from AG Healey to our FOIA request. Here is the actual documentation.

Dear sir or madam,

Please be advised that our office represents the Gun Owners’ Action League, Inc. (GOAL) of Northborough, MA, which (through our office) submitted a Public Records Request to the Office of the Attorney General for the Commonwealth (“AG”) on August 16, 2016 and renewed said request with a follow up letter on November 29, 2016.  To date, we still have not received the public records requested, therefore we are now writing the Secretary of the Commonwealth to appeal the Attorney General’s denial of access to public records.

Get Ready To Get Busy!

GOAL legislation for the 190th General Court is being finalized and filed.

We will be counting on your help to get all of these bills off to a strong start.  The first step will be to get legislators to sign on in support of each bill.

Look for information in the next week about all of our bills, including a summary and docket numbers.  Once everything is in the system we will alert our members asking for them to contact their legislators, to ask them to support - sign onto legislation, this is an important first step!

You can look up your legislators here: https://malegislature.gov/

Ipswich Update - Freedom Protected!

GOAL members protect freedom in Ipswich

As you may recall, a few weeks back we alerted our membership that the anti civil rights group in Ipswich was back, once again trying to suppress freedom.

Good news, once again they were defeated!

A group of Ipswich gun owners attended the meeting and expressed their concern with the direction that Board of Selectmen Member - Bill Craft, might take the agenda.

Robert Weatherall, the chair of the Article 20 committee expressed his desire that the work of the committee be codified into a bylaw that required backyard shooting be allowed only by a permit issued by the chief of police.

The Ipswich board of selectmen ultimately voted to form a three-person team to write an informational pamphlet about basic gun safety rules.  It is to be based on a subset of the recommendations that were set forth by the Article 20 committee.
  • The motion specially scoped the work of the team to the pamphlet only.
  • The pamphlet is to be used by the Ipswich police department as a handout.
  • The membership of the team will be;
  • Bill Craft, the member of the BOS that was on the Article 20 committee.
  • The Ipswich Chief of Police (also on the Article 20 committee)
  • 1 member of the Ipswich Fish and Game Association, that is also an Ipswich resident.
