Are You A GOAL Member?

It's not unusual for us to receive phone calls from MA gun owners who are looking for guidance and are not members of GOAL.

Often times they ask "why should I join GOAL?"   The answer is simple: "our answering of your phone call and question is made possible by GOAL members".

We are more than just a resource though, we continually work to protect & restore Second Amendment freedom, we support many education efforts including our full training schedule and we proudly represent the interests of all law abiding gun owners.

AG Healey Wants Your Feedback!

AG Healey is hosting two "town hall" forums in May, please attend and discuss!

Attorney General Healey is currently touring the state hosting a series of open to all "town hall" meetings.

AG Healey has stated that she wants to hear from voters of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and it's time for us to start asking her questions!

Take Action!

Please attend one of AG Healey's upcoming town hall meetings and ask the AG why she refused to comply to GOAL's FOIA request and why she ignored more than eighty legislators who wanted her 7/20 enforcement notice explained.

Notes - despite her claims she never responded to the FOIA or the letter, see below:

  • Her office did not provide a timely response to GOAL's FOIA request (as outlined by MA law), it came only after GOAL sent an official appeal to Secretary of State Galvin's office. Read more on this here
  • None of the requested documents were provided, her office chose to only share brochures supplied by firearms manufacturers with the purchase of a gun. Read more on this here
  • Her office ignored multiple letters from over eighty MA legislators, including this one from Rep. John Fernandes.

Upcoming Town Halls - both events begin at 7:00 PM

May 2, 2017 - Tilden Arts Center, Cape Cod Community College Barnstable, MA

May 22, 2017 - Wang School, 365 W Meadow Rd, Lowell, MA

Please note, you must RSVP to be admitted to these events.  To do so, go to AG Healey's Facebook page and scroll down to "events" to RSVP.  If you are not on Facebook please call her office and let them know that you would like to RSVP - (617) 727-2200

AG Healey Answers Some Questions, Not Others on Gun Directive

NEWTON — Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey brushed back claims from a bipartisan group of Beacon Hill lawmakers that her office has failed to respond to formal written requests made last July seeking clarity on her directive banning so-called “copycat” assault weapons.

“We’ve held numerous conversations with legislators and have provided significant information to them about the enforcement notice and our actions,” Healey told New Boston Post on Tuesday. “I continue to be available to answer their questions to the extent that there are any.”

Healey’s response doesn’t square with what House Minority Leader Bradley Jones (R-North Reading) told State House News Service after his budget amendment, one which called for withholding about $800,000 in state funds from her office until she responds to clarification requests, failed on a party-line vote.

GOAL Applauds Jones’ Efforts To Hold Healey Accountable

Gun Owners’ Action League (GOAL) today applauded House Minority Leader Brad Jones for his leadership efforts during budget debate to seek clarity from Attorney General Healey’s office.

Attorney General Healey’s office came under scrutiny from many members of the legislature late last summer following her unprecedented reinterpretation of many laws pertaining to firearms ownership in Massachusetts.

“House Minority Leader Jones’ efforts to withhold Healey’s budget increase was the right thing to do,” said GOAL Executive Director Jim Wallace, “the amendment stood for transparency and clarity in government and the constitution, we applaud that."

Healey never disclosed documents requested in GOAL’s FOIA and never replied to multiple letters, (see link) supported by more than eighty members of the legislature.

GOAL applauds all members of the legislature who stood with House Minority Leader Jones. His efforts should be an example for all members of the legislature who believe in fair and transparent government.

Westminster Continued May 2nd!
Please attend!

Zoning Board To Resume Hearing at 7:00 PM, May 2, 2017

Westminster Rod & Gun Club Needs Support From Members and Concerned Residents At May 2nd Meeting

If you plan to attend, please discuss - drive these points home.

  1. The town has no legal standing to close the club because of "zoning violations" - the club has not violated any zoning requirements as they predate them.
  2. The club is protected by MA law from being shutdown due to noise/use.
