GOAL Alert: Lexington Moves to Ban Commonly Owned Guns & Magazines.

Info:

Lexington town meeting member Robert Rotberg has initiated an attack on the Second Amendment.

Rotberg initiated a citizens petition (article) modeled after the Highland Park IL gun ban which would ban many commonly owned firearms and magazines in the town of Lexington. Currently the town of Lexington has over 700 residents who are duly licensed to own firearms. Should this article become law it would affect an untold amount of firearms, which are currently legally owned.

This article must be voted down by Lexington's town meeting members at the Annual Town Meeting.

The annual town meeting is scheduled for March 21, 2016 at 7:30 PM in the Carey Memorial Building, 1605 Massachusetts Ave, Lexington, MA 02420.

Lexington residents need to contact their town meeting members and urge them not to support Mr. Rotberg's article.

Take Action!

If you are a resident of Lexington, please contact your town meeting representative and urge them not to support the article filed by Mr. Rotberg. (at this time we do not know what number the article will be)

Also note, Lexington precinct 4 representative Kate Colburn has posted online that she is in support of the ban. If you live in Lexington and she is your representative, please discuss this with her.

Plan on attending town meeting March 21, 2016 and speaking out against this attack on our Second Amendment.

Jim Wallace on WMEX Radio.

GOAL Executive Director Jim Wallace was in studio yesterday afternoon discussing the Lexington gun ban proposal, MA law, Obama's executive actions, MA licensing and many other Second Amendment related topics.

We are currently working with WMEX to make this a monthly occurrence, stay tuned for details on that.

Thanks again to Michele McPhee/1510 WMEX for having us on!
Obama's Executive Actions:
President Obama Has Let His Emotion Get the Better of His Judgment

Obama’s executive-led gun control push is finally underway. Per NPR:

ATF will play a central role in the administration’s move, by clarifying what it means to be “engaged in the business” of selling guns. Until now, some collectors and hobbyists have been able to avoid that designation. As a result, they haven’t needed a federal license to sell and they haven’t been required to conduct background checks on their customers. The new guidance from that Bureau is designed to require more such sellers to conduct background checks, even if they’re doing business only at gun shows or online.

Positive Changes For NFA

White House ‘crackdown’ includes dropping CLEO requirement on NFA items

As part of a long-promised toughening of rules on guns, the Obama Administration is lifting the requirement for Chief Law Enforcement Officer certifications.

The updated rule, signed by U. S. Attorney Gen. Loretta Lynch and announced late Monday, is the final version of controversial ATF 41P, the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) originally published in 2013. The change comes as part of the President’s renewed push to curb gun violence announced this week.

Please help GOAL welcome new instructor Mandy Deveno!

Mandy Deveno  is a transplant from Wisconsin where she grew up hunting upland birds and whitetail deer with her family. In 2010, shortly after moving to Massachusetts with her own family, she attended her first Women on Target event presented by G.O.A.L. Soon after this class she began volunteering at statewide Women on Target and G.O.A.L. shooting sports events.

Mandy became an NRA Instructor so she could share her love of the shooting sports to others. She especially likes to empower women and youth new to the shooting sports. Safety, knowledge, and solid foundations in firearm handling are the most important factors in her classes.

Mandy, her husband, and two children all enjoy the shooting sports in different disciplines. Mandy enjoys hunting, learning new shooting sports skills, training, and leading a 4-H Club for youth in her town.

Mandy will be teaching our Home Firearms Safety Courses at GOAL HQ.

***ALERT*** Governor Baker supporting "No Fly" legislation.

GOAL has learned that Governor Baker is supporting legislation filed by Representative Lori A. Ehrlich which would allow state officials to deny rights with no due process.

See Governor Baker Speak In Support Of The Legislation Here.

Governor Baker can be reached by phone at: 617.725.4005

Rep Ehrich's bill would do away with due process for MA citizens who appear on one or more of the federal watch lists, see below for more info:

  • There is zero statutory criteria or due process for inclusion on the lists.
  • These lists would be run by unelected officials with no oversight and no accountability.
  • Should your name wind up on the lists you will be virtually powerless to find out why you are on it, or to have it removed.
  • The government is not required to tell you why you are on the lists.
  • There is no due process, no right to a trial, nothing, you can wind up on the lists and lose your rights.

Legislation of this nature goes directly against the Constitution and must be stopped.

Please call, mail and email Governor Baker today, ask him not to support HD4331 "An Act relative to denying firearms and explosives to suspected terrorists" or any other proposal which would arbitrarily deny or suppress our Constitutional rights.

No On HD4331!
