Please help us continue protecting freedom!

October 28, 2016

Greetings!

Over the last week there has been a concerted effort to smear GOAL via associating us with a hate group.  This smear tactic is repugnant on so many levels as GOAL is a civil right organization for all people.

For the record, GOAL is and has always been an open and inclusive organization from its founding in 1975.

We care deeply about supporting and defending our Second Amendment civil rights regardless of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, or sexual orientation.

Our sixteen thousand members represent the diversity of the Commonwealth. Our members are African American, Latino, Asian, white, straight, gay, married, single, mom's and dad's, professionals and blue collar.

GOAL is here for everyone because together we are stronger.

Thank you for reading the Friday News.  Please remember, everything we do, including this email is made possible by the generous support of GOAL members.  If you are not a member, please consider joining GOAL , if you are a member, please consider a generous donation, purchasing raffle tickets, or attending a GOAL event.
Are You A GOAL Member?

It's not unusual for us to receive phone calls from MA gun owners who are looking for guidance and are not members of GOAL.

Often times they ask "why should I join GOAL?"   The answer is simple: "our answering of your phone call and question is made possible by GOAL members".

We are more than just a resource though, we continually work to protect & restore Second Amendment freedom, we support many education efforts including our full training schedule and we proudly represent the interests of all law abiding gun owners.

If you are not a member, please consider joining, you can do so online here: http://goal.org/joingoal.html

Protest - MA State House - Wednesday 11/2/16 - 11:00 AM

Protest! Join us November 2nd – 11:00 AM at the State House (front stairs)

The MA Governor’s Council will be meeting to decide upon nomination of AG Healey’s staffer Christopher Barry-Smith on November 2, 2016 at 1:00 PM at the State House.

GOAL is asking all MA gun owners to join us in protest on the State House stairs to send a strong message to the Governor and his council that Barry-Smith should not be approved to be a judge because of his taking part in obfuscating FOIA requests and attacking civil rights.

Christopher Barry-Smith has a long history of working for MA attorney general’s who have successfully restricted our civil rights.  Should he be nominated, we cannot expect any sort of fair trial for any Second Amendment issue that comes before him.  Justice will not be blind, or balanced if he is a judge, for that reason, his nomination must be declined.

Please join us in protest of his appointment on November 2nd, 11:00 AM at the State House!

If you are planning to attend the protest, please consider testifying against the nomination of Barry-Smith at the Governor’s Council Hearing, which begins at 1:00 PM. You must call ahead of time and sign up to testify. Please call George Cronin at the Governor’s Council Office 617-725-4015 x0 to sign up.

During this week, please contact your Governor’s Council Member and urge them to decline the nomination of Christopher Barry-Smith.

At this time there has been no public statement made regarding the hearing date change, we will update as information becomes available.

See below for more information.

GOAL Director Responds To MA Lawyers Weekly Support Of Healey

Dear Editors:

In the October 20th issue of MLW, the editorial board declared, “AG on right side of ‘copycat’ gun issue.” I beg to differ.

Specifically, I believe the AG’s precipitate and unilateral action flouts over two decades of settled law, with little substantive basis for that action. It logically follows that the MLW editorial board’s endorsement of that fiat is disappointing.

Let us review the facts:

1. The criteria determining what is an “assault weapon” was set forth in Federal law in 1994. It remained law for a decade; from Maine to American Samoa. Everywhere, its identification of those guns specifically (if speciously) identified as “assault weapons” was understood, as were the detailed criteria and features by which other guns would be so deemed. The statutory criteria were duly applied, and the gun makers complied with them, removing those features.

Senator Anne Gobi - Friend Of Sportsmen & Gun Owners

Do you live in the Worcester, Hampden, Hampshire, Middlesex State Senate district?

If so, please support State Senator Anne Gobi.  Anne has always supported and defended sportsmen and women and our Second Amendment civil rights.

She is one of few Democrats in the state senate who have taken a stand against AG Healey's anti constitutional attack on our civil rights.  She has also supported many bills which are very important to gun owners and sportsmen and women.

We are thankful for her efforts and hope that you will consider her with your vote on November 8th.
