GOAL has been made aware of some great concerns regarding the video drawing of the Spring Fling Raffle that took place on June 30, 2017. First, let us state clearly that we value the trust and support of our members and would never do anything to jeopardize that!  GOAL always strives to maintain the highest level of integrity with all raffles and fundraisers. In addition, the public is invited to attend every live drawing.

For the record, the winner received all prizes and has no connection to GOAL and is not an active member of GOAL.

The video in question was supposed to have been shot in entirety as a “Facebook live” event, due to operator error the video did not start until after the ticket was being drawn. Once told by the camera operator that we were now actually live, we had a quick decision to make. Do we throw the legitimate winner back in the drum or keep it in hand? In a split second decision Jim chose to protect the rights of legitimate winner.

In hindsight, perhaps the correct thing to do was to draw a second winner and present both with the prize package, so that is what we will do.  In order to maintain the integrity of our raffles we always retain all of the original tickets.  The second drawing, utilizing those same tickets, is scheduled for Thursday July 20, 2017 - 6:30 PM at the GOAL office.  Everyone who purchased a ticket will have a second chance to win.  The drawing will once again be live streamed for all to see, and all are welcome to attend.

The integrity of our organization, the trust of our members, and the fulfillment of our mission was not and is not worth the mere cost of a prize package.

We greatly apologize to our members and supporters for this matter and will strive to continue to earn your trust and support.

GOAL has learned that there are two important public hearings on the schedule for next week.

July 18, 2017: The Joint Committee on the Judiciary will hold a hearing on multiple bills.  The hearing is at the State House in room A1 and begins at 1:00 PM.

Principles of Concealed Carry is designed to provide a solid foundation for defensive and counter ambush firing skills.

This live fire course will provide students an opportunity to learn various methods for presenting a concealed firearm during a dynamic event.

One demographic that has witnessed tremendous growth in the shooting sports is teenagers. 

The face of shooting sports has changed drastically since I was a kid growing up in southeastern Georgia in the early 1980s. At the time skeet and trap were kings and other disciplines were “niche” sports. But since that time when one or two disciplines ruled the shooting world, we have seen the sport evolve into the magnificent, diverse culture it is today. Now opportunities abound for men and women of all ages to get involved in the shooting sports. Just about any type of firearm imaginable, from shotguns to AR-15s, can be found in the hands of shooters at ranges, gun clubs, and fields all across the country as more and more people are exposed to those opportunities.
