Are You A GOAL Member?

It's not unusual for us to receive phone calls from MA gun owners who are looking for guidance and are not members of GOAL.

Often times they ask "why should I join GOAL?"  The answer is simple: "our answering of your phone call and question is made possible by GOAL members".
We are more than just a resource though, we continually work to protect & restore Second Amendment freedom, we support many education efforts including our full training schedule and we proudly represent the interests of all law abiding gun owners.

If you are not a member, please consider joining, you can do so online here: http://goal.org/joingoal.html

Alabama AG takes exception to Healey's efforts to politicize lawsuit against Remington

A press release from the Office of the Attorney General in Alabama said the Massachusetts brief was an effort "to introduce firearms regulation into a class action settlement that compensates gun owners for purchases of weapons that may have had defective triggers."

"This lawsuit is a dispute between private parties about economic losses that the plaintiffs allegedly incurred when they bought an allegedly defective product from the defendant," the Alabama brief read. "The mere fact that the product at issue is a gun does not transform this case into a lawsuit about firearm safety."

Gun Owners - Sportsmen & Sportswomen Positive Impact On The MA Economy

Gun owners, sportsmen and women contribute more than $15.7 million dollars to Massachusetts' economy every year.

This breaks down as follows:

The Wildlife Restoration Act (WR), commonly referred to as the Pittman-Robertson (PR) Act , was sponsored by Senator Key Pittman of Nevada and Representative Willis Robertson of Virginia and was passed in 1937. The Wildlife Restoration Act provides grant funds to states that have passed assent legislation. This means state legislation must be in effect and remain in effect restricting the use of revenue from license fees for use only by fish and wildlife agency. Current revenues are derived through federal excise taxes at the point of manufacturing at the following rates (tax on sales as follows: 11% on Firearms and Ammunition, 10% on Handguns, 11% on Archery Equipment). Annual contribution: $7.6 million.

Wildlands Conservation Stamp - Commonly known to the sporting community as the “Land Stamp”, this program was established through the passage of legislation in 1990. Sportsmen and women selflessly launched an effort to create a program to perpetually raise funds for the purchase of open space. The law created a $5.00 wildlands conservation stamp to be added to all purchases of hunting, fishing and trapping licenses. Lands purchased with these funds protect and enhance habitat for a great diversity of wildlife, both game and non-game as well as endangered species. Since the program was established these funds have helped protect over 200,000 acres . Annual contribution: $1.5 million.

Inland Fisheries and Game Fund - According to legislative records, this fund was established in 1967 to protect fees gathered from the sale of fishing, hunting and trapping license sales. In keeping with the rules established under federal guidelines for eligibility under the Wildlife Conservation Act, all of these fees must be protected in a dedicated fund. These funds cannot be expended for general purposes, but must be used only for matters regarding fish and wildlife management. Annual contribution: $5.2 million

Other Wildlife Management Funding Sources (permits and stamps) $1.4 million

These figures do not include the positive impact hunting has on the Commonwealth’s overall economy: Small and large business employees, Sales Tax Revenue on Millions of Dollars of outdoor gear, Lodging, gas, food, etc.

Can you imagine how this would grow if the state of MA joined the rest of the nation and stopped actively suppressing licensed gun ownership?
