Healey Out Of Control

AG Maura Healey has threatened to sue President Elect Trump

In a new fundraising appeal, Attorney General Maura Healey is trying to rile up donors by promising to take President-elect Donald Trump to court.

"Donald Trump plans to roll back much of the progress we’ve made in Massachusetts and as a nation," Healey wrote in an email to supporters Tuesday. "A lot of people are asking, 'What can be done?' When the federal government overreaches, state attorneys general have an enormously important role to play. The People’s Lawyer is the first line of defense against illegal action by the federal government and I won’t hesitate to take Donald Trump to court if he carries out his unconstitutional campaign promises."

Above the law?  Maura Healey fights Exxon probe: AG too ‘high-ranking’ for deposition

Attorney General Maura Healey is pushing back on a federal judge’s order that she be in Texas next month to be grilled by attorneys for Exxon Mobil, claiming it takes “exceptional circumstances” to demand an official of her stature be deposed.

Maura Healey’s legal tab: Up to $500 per hour

The Herald reported yesterday that Healey’s office has so far paid the firm roughly $44,000 — using money recovered in litigation — to battle a lawsuit brought by Exxon Mobil aimed at blocking her probe into whether the oil giant has been deceiving consumers and investors about the environmental hazards of fossil fuel.

Healey is fighting an order to report to a Texas courtroom on Dec. 13 to answer whether her subpoena was politically motivated.

Mass. Attorney General Maura Healey seeks dismissal of federal lawsuit over 'copycat' assault weapons crackdown

In the motion to dismiss the lawsuit, Healey's office said the "only question" for the federal court is whether her office's "clarification" of the phrase "copies or duplicates" burdens Second Amendment rights as much as the gun shops' lawsuit claims.

And finally, we leave you with these contrasting statements from Healey:

On Exxon: “Our position in this ligation is that the authorities in Texas, and specifically the federal court down there, has no jurisdiction over state attorneys general and the work of their offices,”

On Remington: "The Attorney General is entitled to information from Remington (an out of state entity) necessary to evaluate the scope of the potential safety concerns at issue, not just for gun owners, but also for the general public,"

Boston Police Scanning Social Media.

GOAL recommends that gun owners take caution with social media and online posts!

The Boston Police Department is on the verge of buying new software that will scan social media and the Internet for criminal activity and threats to public safety — a step that civil liberties groups say is a worrisome risk to free speech and privacy.

The software would be able to search blogs, websites, chat rooms, and social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube. It would provide law enforcement officials with an address of where the content was posted and allow police to create a “geo-fence” that would send alerts when new posts are made within an area that meets specified search criteria.
