Greetings!

Thank you for reading the Friday News!
Please remember, everything we do, including this email is made possible by the generous support of GOAL members.  If you are not a member, please consider joining GOAL , if you are a member, please consider a generous donation, purchasing raffle tickets, or attending a GOAL event.
Are You A GOAL Member?

It's not unusual for us to receive phone calls from MA gun owners who are looking for guidance and are not members of GOAL.

Often times they ask "why should I join GOAL?"   The answer is simple: "our answering of your phone call and question is made possible by GOAL members".

We are more than just a resource though, we continually work to protect & restore Second Amendment freedom, we support many education efforts including our full training schedule and we proudly represent the interests of all law abiding gun owners.

If you are not a member, please consider joining, you can do so online here: http://goal.org/joingoal.html

AG Healey Wants Your Feedback!

AG Healey's Next Town Hall Forum - May 22nd in Lowell!

Attorney General Healey is currently touring the state hosting a series of open to all "town hall" meetings.

AG Healey has stated that she wants to hear from voters of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and it's time for us to start asking her questions!

Take Action!

Please attend one of AG Healey's upcoming town hall meetings and ask the AG why she refused to comply to GOAL's FOIA request and why she ignored more than eighty legislators who wanted her 7/20 enforcement notice explained.

Notes - despite her claims she never responded to the FOIA or the letter, see below:

  • Her office did not provide a timely response to GOAL's FOIA request (as outlined by MA law), it came only after GOAL sent an official appeal to Secretary of State Galvin's office. Read more on this here
  • None of the requested documents were provided, her office chose to only share brochures supplied by firearms manufacturers with the purchase of a gun. Read more on this here
  • Her office ignored multiple letters from over eighty MA legislators, including this one from Rep. John Fernandes.

Upcoming Town Halls - event begins at 7:00 PM

May 22, 2017 - Wang School, 365 W Meadow Rd, Lowell, MA

Please note, you must RSVP to be admitted to these events.  To do so, go to AG Healey's Facebook page and scroll down to "events" to RSVP.  If you are not on Facebook please call her office and let them know that you would like to RSVP - (617) 727-2200

Westminster Remains Closed

Zoning Board To Render Decision May 16th

Thank you to everyone who attended the most recent ZBA meeting in Westminster.

For the time being, the club remains closed by Westminster's building inspector.

Of note

  1. The town had no legal standing to close the club because of "zoning violations" - the club has not violated any zoning requirements as they predate them.
  2. The club is protected by MA law from being shutdown due to noise/use.
  3. There is no legal basis for keeping the club closed.

Yet, the club remains closed until at least May 16th, at which time the ZBA will render a decision about the future of the club.

The club is working closely with Attorney Martha Dean, they are exploring all options going forward, we will update with information as it becomes available.

Northborough Youth Wins 2 Golds and a Silver at National Junior Olympic Rifle Championship

Great job Rio!

April 12, 2017 – Rio Ferguson of Northborough, MA traveled to the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Spring, CO on April 6th to compete in his first National Junior Olympic Rifle Championships (NJORC). It was the second step to achieving his goal of medaling at the NJORC that he set two years ago when just 11 years old. The first step to reaching his goal required qualifying at the Massachusetts State Junior Olympics in one or both of the shooting disciplines – 3-Position Smallbore and International Air Rifle.

Rio won the State Smallbore Championship and placed 3rd in Air Rifle competing against all juniors (20 years old and younger) in the state. His scores were high enough in his age group to get an automatic invitation to the National Championships in both shooting disciplines.
