Are You A GOAL Member?

It's not unusual for us to receive phone calls from MA gun owners who are looking for guidance and are not members of GOAL.

Often times they ask "why should I join GOAL?"   The answer is simple: "our answering of your phone call and question is made possible by GOAL members".

We are more than just a resource though, we continually work to protect & restore Second Amendment freedom, we support many education efforts including our full training schedule and we proudly represent the interests of all law abiding gun owners.

If you are not a member, please consider joining, you can do so online here: http://goal.org/joingoal.html

Protest - MA State House - Wednesday 10/16/16 - 11:00 AM

Protest! Join us October 26th – 11:00 AM at the State House (front stairs)

The MA Governor’s Council will be meeting to decide upon nomination of AG Healey’s staffer Christopher Barry-Smith on October 26th at 1:00 PM at the State House.

GOAL is asking all MA gun owners to join us in protest on the State House stairs to send a strong message to the Governor and his council that Barry-Smith should not be approved to be a judge because of his taking part in obfuscating FOIA requests and attacking civil rights.

Christopher Barry-Smith has a long history of working for MA attorney general’s who have successfully restricted our civil rights.  Should he be nominated, we cannot expect any sort of fair trial for any Second Amendment issue that comes before him.  Justice will not be blind, or balanced if he is a judge, for that reason, his nomination must be declined.

Please join us in protest of his appointment on October 26th, 11:00 AM at the State House!

Contact Your Governors Council Member:

Please continue contacting the members of the Governors Council and urge them not to nominate Christopher Barry-Smith to the Superior Court. As part of AG Healey's staff he has been an active participant in obfuscating FOIA requests, and worse, attacking a civil right. We cannot expect a fair trial from Barry-Smith. Please call them, then follow it up with a hand written letter. The council will meet on 10/26/16 to decide on Barry-Smith.

Plaintiffs Needed

Important info – plaintiff’s needed – please share!

We are currently looking for people who wish to purchase or otherwise acquire firearms that are banned under the Massachusetts “Assault Weapons” ban, including those firearms that became banned as a result of the Notice of Enforcement. We are also looking for people who purchased firearms between 1998 and July 20, 2016 that were legally transferred to them when the firearms were purchased, but are now apparently illegal under the Notice of Enforcement (this includes most “Massachusetts Compliant” AR and AK platform rifles sold in Massachusetts during this time). We are also looking for active, licensed dealers who completed transfers of “Massachusetts Compliant” firearms during this time period. Finally, we are looking for individuals or dealers who wish to purchase or sell a firearm, but cannot do so because they are unsure as to whether or not it is a prohibited “Assault Weapon.” Interested persons must be Massachusetts residents who are U.S. citizens and are eligible to possess firearms under both Massachusetts and federal law (including possession of a valid Class “A” Large Capacity License) or properly licensed businesses.

If you meet any of these criteria, please email us at: [email protected] for more information.

Thank You Natick

We are happy to report that the town of Natick voted down the anti Second Amendment resolution at town meeting last night. Great job to all of our Natick resident members who worked to protect freedom. We hope that if Natick truly wants to address this issue that they form a balanced committee to discuss best methods, which support and protect our rights.

Boston Herald Attacks GOAL

This past week an op-ed appeared in the Boston Herald which had a very negative opinion of GOAL's efforts to protect Second Amendment freedom in Massachusetts.

See our reply, which the Herald printed, below.

Herald fires, misses

The Gun Owners Action League takes great umbrage with the Herald editorial criticizing its protest activities of last week (“GOAL shooting blanks,” Oct. 16). We called on our members to contact the governor, and their individual Governor’s Councilors, to oppose any judicial nominee from Attorney General Maura Healey’s office due to their complicity with her actions to reinterpret the gun laws of Massachusetts overnight. These actions have not only hurt families throughout the commonwealth but have set a bad precedent for future AG actions.

We are surprised that the Herald, which continually stands on the First Amendment to defend itself, would criticize us for standing up for the Second Amendment. We do not understand why the Herald would defend a person who has worked for not one but three attorneys general, who have pursued the limitation of the Second Amendment in Massachusetts. We believe Christopher Barry-Smith’s service in an office that promotes a rights-limiting agenda makes him ineligible for a Superior Court judgeship that determines people’s rights on a daily basis.

We would hope that in the future the Herald would be more supportive of those who protect the Second Amendment civil rights of all Massachusetts citizens rather than those who continually attempt to take them away — and worse, who do so without due process.
