GOAL Annual Meeting

Annual Meeting of the Membership - GOAL Members Only

Please Join Us - Saturday February 4, 2017 – 9:00 AM at Marlborough Holiday Inn!

January 27, 2017

Greetings!

On July 20, 2016, Attorney General Maura Healey launched an unprecedented and unchecked attack on our civil rights.  There was no public hearing, the legislature never debated it and the courts never vetted it.

Additionally our civil rights were attacked at the local level; Lexington, Natick, Harwich and many other towns had articles filed to their town warrant.  These were a well-organized and sneaky attempt to suppress individual freedom in a way that few people would pay attention to, or so they hoped.

Make no mistake, we are in for the fight of our lives and we are counting on you to help us restore and protect our Second Amendment civil rights!

2017 will bring many challenges, the defense of our civil rights will take place in many arenas, be it a courthouse, town hall, or Beacon Hill, GOAL will be there and we will count on your generous support to enhance and enable our efforts.

This begins on February 4th at our Annual Meeting.  Open to all GOAL members in good standing, join us to find out more information about the year that was, and our vision for 2017.  As always we will have a buffet breakfast followed by the meeting information and presentations.

Please encourage every member that you know to attend, if you know someone who cares about our Second Amendment who is not a member, please encourage them to join GOAL and attend.

It begins here, are you in?

GOAL Files Civil Rights Suit In Federal Court

CITIZENS UNITE TO CHALLENGE THE MASSACHUSETTS FIREARMS BAN

1/23/17

The Gun Owners’ Action League announced today that, together with individual Massachusetts citizens and small businesses, it has filed suit to end Massachusetts’ unconstitutional bans that prevent law-abiding, responsible citizens from buying and keeping in their homes the most popular rifles in the country, as well as most standard capacity magazines.

The Gun Owners Action League is a named plaintiff in the suit and is joined by individual and business plaintiffs who have had their Second Amendment rights infringed by Massachusetts.

Massachusetts prohibits the acquisition and possession of popular firearms and standard capacity magazines that are lawfully possessed by millions of law-abiding, responsible individuals across the nation. Attorney General Healey issued a Notice of Enforcement on July 20, 2016, retroactively expanding Massachusetts’ illegal prohibition of constitutionally protected firearms and magazines to include tens of thousands of Massachusetts Compliant Firearms that had been transferred in Massachusetts with the Commonwealth’s approval for almost 20 years.

Healey Vows To Fight Lawsuit

Gun owners challenge assault weapons law; attorney general vows vigorous defense

BOSTON - A gun rights group, along with individual gun owners and retailers, is challenging the state's 1998 assault weapon ban in federal court, arguing the law unconstitutionally infringes on the right to bear arms and improperly bans an entire class of weapons.

The lawsuit, filed Monday by a group of plaintiffs including the Gun Owners Action League, names as defendants Gov. Charlie Baker, Attorney General Maura Healey, Public Safety Secretary Daniel Bennett, the Massachusetts State Police and State Police Superintendent Col. Richard McKeon.

Healey said Tuesday she would "vigorously defend" the law in court and that her office has been successful defending against Second Amendment challenges in the past.

Suppressor Legislation News

Gun owners want silencers legalized

BOSTON — Gun enthusiasts are aiming to lift a ban on silencers, saying the devices long associated by Hollywood with gangsters and assassins have practical uses such as protecting hearing and reducing the noise at shooting ranges.

Massachusetts is one of nine of states that ban silencers, sometimes called sound suppressors. While law enforcement is allowed to use them, the general public cannot.

A proposal on Beacon Hill would legalize private ownership while preventing those with criminal backgrounds from purchasing them.

“There’s no evidence that allowing the sale and use of suppressors will increase crime,” said Sen. Michael Moore, D-Millbury, its chief sponsor.
