GOAL Alert:  Town of Lexington Voting To Ban Commonly Owned Firearms & Magazines

The town of Lexington will vote on Article 34 at town meeting beginning on March 21, 2016.

The article, if passed, will ban many commonly owned firearms and magazines in the town of Lexington. Currently the town of Lexington has over 800 residents who are duly licensed to own firearms. Should this article become law it would affect an untold amount of firearms, which are currently legally owned.

To stop this article from becoming law, it must be voted down by Lexington's town meeting members at the Annual Town Meeting.

The annual town meeting is scheduled for March 21, 2016 at 7:30 PM in the Carey Memorial Building, 1605 Massachusetts Ave, Lexington, MA 02420.

Take Action!

Lexington residents need to contact their town meeting members and urge them to vote NO on Article 34.

Plan on attending town meeting March 21, 2016 and speaking out against this attack on our Second Amendment.

RIP Justice Scalia

Antonin Scalia's work will be long remembered

"To be sure, Justice Scalia believed in enforcing constitutional guarantees. People unhappy with his jurisprudence concerning the Second Amendment (the right to bear arms) must contend with the implication of their views for his similarly strong dedication to the principles of the Fourth Amendment, barring unreasonable searches and seizures, and the Sixth Amendment, involving the jury right in federal criminal trials. Many a defendant did or will receive the benefit of Justice Scalia's work — often prevailing over other "conservative" members on the court — in recognizing individual rights. He twice provided the fifth vote to strike down under the First Amendment laws criminalizing flag-burning. This son of an immigrant was no proponent of flag-burning, but he saw it as protected speech."

Justice Scalia's Heller Opinion - A Landmark Decision

"Some have made the argument, bordering on the frivolous, that only those arms in existence in the 18th century are protected by the Second Amendment . We do not interpret constitutional rights that way. Just as the First Amendment protects modern forms of communications, e.g., Reno v. American Civil Liberties Union, 521 U. S. 844, 849 (1997) , and the Fourth Amendment applies to modern forms of search, e.g., Kyllo v. United States, 533 U. S. 27, 35–36 (2001) , the Second Amendment extends, prima facie,to all instruments that constitute bearable arms, even those that were not in existence at the time of the founding."

Guns in spotlight as Baker works to fill SJC seats

This is why supporting pro Second Amendment Governors Council candidates is vitally important

By Andy Metzger

State House News Service

BOSTON -- Judicial views on firearms are likely to become an issue as Gov. Charlie Baker seeks to fill at least three seats on the state's highest court, a member of a judicial nominee review panel said Wednesday.

Jennie Caissie, whose district includes Townsend and the lone Republican on the eight-member elected Governor's Council that vets judicial nominees, found harmony with the gun views of Michele Ouimet-Rooke, the nominee for a Springfield District Court judgeship.
