It's not unusual for us to receive phone calls from MA gun owners who are looking for guidance and are not members of GOAL.

Often times they ask "why should I join GOAL?"   The answer is simple: "our answering of your phone call and question is made possible by GOAL members".

We are more than just a resource though, we continually work to protect & restore Second Amendment freedom, we support many education efforts including our full training schedule and we proudly represent the interests of all law abiding gun owners.

Help Us Stop Town By Town Attacks - We Need Your Help May 7th!

H.2158 Info Session - Please Attend!

Saturday, May 7, 2016 10:00 am - 1:00 pm @ Division of Fisheries & Wildlife HQ - Westborough, MA.

Help us stop the town by town attacks, we need your testimony!

If your local city/town is requiring anything extra of you to apply for a state firearm license, please attend this meeting and provide information to Rep. Vieira.  Along with your verbal testimony, it would be very helpful if you could bring documentation of the added requirements. This could be in the form of printouts from municipal websites, additional application forms from your city/town, etc.

Please click here for more information.

**Longmeadow Alert**   NO on Articles 29, 30, 31!

  • Get involved!  Do you live in the Longmeadow area? Volunteer to become part of the solution by clicking here.
  • Follow the website! GOAL Members in Longmeadow have organized and set up a website - please follow it and share!
  • The Articles are now numbered 29, 30, 31.  (note NEW numbers!)
  • A Life Member of GOAL and Longmeadow resident, Walt Lamon has volunteered to lead the effort to stop the unconstitutional articles.  If you are a Longmeadow resident who would like to be involved, please contact Walt via email.
Here is the GOAL Alert:

GOAL has learned that Longmeadow Massachusetts will be voting at town meeting on May 10th and could vote in some drastic anti-Second Amendment measures.

Please see the text of Article’s 26, 27, 28 from the 2016 town meeting warrant (see below).  This was sent to us by a member.  These articles are an outright assault on your Second Amendment rights.  Article 26 would ban lawful carry of firearms on all town property including sidewalks.  Article 27 would require gun registration upon renewal of license.  Article 28 would ban many commonly owned firearms and magazines

Please know that the warrant is yet to be finalized.

Town Meeting begins May 10, click here for more information.

If you live in Longmeadow please plan on attending town meeting and voting NO on all three articles!

***Ipswich Alert***

GOAL has learned that there is a hunting/discharge ban on the town warrant for the May 10th Annual Town Meeting.  The proponent of the article wants to ban the safe and lawful discharge of firearms on private property. See Article 27 on page 38. (note it's mistakenly marked as Article 25)

Town Meeting is May 10, if you are an Ipswich resident please attend and vote NO.
***Westport Alert***

GOAL has learned that there is a citizens petition on the town meeting warrant, see Article 28, (page 10).

This is yet another citizens petition filed with the intent of restricting freedom. If you live in Westport, please plan on attending town meeting May 3rd and voting this nonsense down.…
Fact-checking the Claims Behind Article 34

This info will be presented in Longmeadow as "fact" as well.

If Lexington is serious about engaging in a town-wide dialog on gun violence, it is imperative that all participants be well-informed, and in possession of reliable, accurate data and statistics.

It was therefore disappointing at the Town Meeting of April 6 to watch Article 34’s proponent distributing pink handouts rife with misinformation, and to have no opportunity for effectively countering or responding to it.

Robert Rotberg’s “fact” sheet contained a number of outright falsehoods and misleading data, and repeatedly mixed “apples and oranges” by conflating general firearms statistics with “assault weapons” data.

In rather poor academic form, Professor Rotberg provided no sources or citations for the claims on his handout (one wonders whether his students were allowed to get away with such omissions.)

**West Boylston Alert **

The discussion will continue at Zoning Board Hearing April 21.

The citizens group who are working to suppress freedom in W. Boylston via forcing Wayne's Weaponry to cease lawful discharge of firearms on his property will have to wait until the next hearing, scheduled for April 21st.

At last nights hearing it was decided that the lawful discharge will be strictly limited to certain times/days.

Hopefully this will be reversed at the next hearing to that people can get back to enjoying exercising their Second Amendment freedom.

If you are a W. Boylston resident, please plan on attending the next hearing in support of Wayne at the West Boylston Town Offices, 140 Worcester Street, West Boylston, MA.

Also, there is a fundraiser for Wayne at the Kasbar in Worcester, 234 Southwest Cutoff Rd, April 10th from 4:00 - 8:00 PM $10.00 at the door.  Stop by, have dinner, get a raffle ticket and help Wayne offset his legal fees.
Westford-based Pro 2A advocate speaks against gun control

I wanted to thank the editor for publishing my comments in the recent series on firearms. I do have three additional points I would like to make.

“Let's have an informed debate,” the editorial page stated at one point that as neighbors, we can discuss this issue better, and closed with, “Let's Talk.” All of which is fine, but excuse me if I then say, “I'll talk, but NOT about gun control.”

I'm well within my right to not compromise on my constitutional rights, aren't I? When terrorists go online and urge others to kill innocent people, do we suggest banning everyone's access to the internet? When the cops are 99.9 percent sure they know who committed the crime, do we tell them, “It's OK, you don't need a search warrant.”

I would love to talk, but when Mr. Don Detweiler, chairman of the Social Action Committee at Temple Isaiah in Lexington, says, “we don't want to take anyone’s guns away,” I have to wonder. Does Mr. Detweiler support his fellow Lexington citizen, Robert Rotberg, who submitted a citizen position that would ban the possession of a huge class of legal firearms? He certainly didn't denounce the move.
