A few updates on the alert regarding the three articles to be voted on at town meeting on May 10th.

  • Follow the website! GOAL Members in Longmeadow have organized and set up a website - please follow it and share! http://www.longforliberty.org/
  • The Articles are now numbered 27, 28, 29.
  • A Life Member of GOAL and Longmeadow resident, Walt Lamon has volunteered to lead the effort to stop the unconstitutional articles.  If you are a Longmeadow resident who would like to be involved, please contact Walt via email.
Here is the GOAL Alert:

GOAL has learned that Longmeadow Massachusetts will be voting at town meeting on May 10th and could vote in some drastic anti-Second Amendment measures.

Please see the text of Article’s 26, 27, 28 from the 2016 town meeting warrant (see below).  This was sent to us by a member.  These articles are an outright assault on your Second Amendment rights.  Article 26 would ban lawful carry of firearms on all town property including sidewalks.  Article 27 would require gun registration upon renewal of license.  Article 28 would ban many commonly owned firearms and magazines

Please know that the warrant is yet to be finalized.

Town Meeting begins May 10, click here for more information.

If you live in Longmeadow please plan on attending town meeting and voting NO on all three articles!

***Ipswich Alert***

GOAL has learned that there is a hunting/discharge ban on the town warrant for the May 10th Annual Town Meeting.  The proponent of the article wants to ban the safe and lawful discharge of firearms on private property. See Article 27 on page 38. (note it's mistakenly marked as Article 25)

Town Meeting is May 10, if you are an Ipswich resident please attend and vote NO.

http://www.ipswichma.gov/DocumentCenter/View/8215
***Westport Alert***

GOAL has learned that there is a citizens petition on the town meeting warrant, see Article 28, (page 10).

This is yet another citizens petition filed with the intent of restricting freedom. If you live in Westport, please plan on attending town meeting May 3rd and voting this nonsense down.

**Lexington Update**

Lexington Town Meeting Members Ignore Gun Owners, Vote Yes On Article 34

On Wednesday April 6th, the elected representatives of the town of Lexington voted affirmatively on Article 34, 105 - 62, to initiate a town wide discussion on "gun violence".

This discussion will be hosted and sponsored by the League of Women Voters, a group that has time and again testified for restricting Second Amendment freedom.

How can a fair discussion take place, based on this knowledge?

The article that they voted on was written in a manner which already concluded that there is a "need" to orchestrate greater restrictions on our freedom in the name of "safety".

How can a fair or reasonable outcome be expected based on this?

Disappointing result for the town of Lexington, the elected officials of which smeared the town's place in history this evening.

Article 34 Proponent Cites Cracked Magazine.

Turns out that the article proponent, Robert Rotberg knows very little about firearms.

As the proponent of Article 34, Robert Rotberg was given ample time to discuss his proposal and why he personally believes that the government should essentially destroy the Second Amendment rights of Lexington residents and Americans across the country.

During his presentation he stated that "assault weapons" are capable of firing 600-900 rounds per minute.  Later when he was questioned about this, it became readily apparent that he has zero knowledge about firearms of any sort, he also admitted to having never fired a semi automatic firearm of any sort.  He literally did not know that one bullet is fired per trigger pull.

When he was done admitting that he knew nothing of firearms, he promised to share his source for the 600-900 round per minute claim.

As it turns out, his source was a satire magazine called "Cracked".

Regardless, enough of Lexington's Town Meeting Members were hooked by his sensational sounding (and false) statistics to support him via a yes vote.

**West Boylston Alert **

The discussion will continue at Zoning Board Hearing April 21.

The citizens group who are working to suppress freedom in W. Boylston via forcing Wayne's Weaponry to cease lawful discharge of firearms on his property will have to wait until the next hearing, scheduled for April 21st.

At last nights hearing it was decided that the lawful discharge will be strictly limited to certain times/days.

Hopefully this will be reversed at the next hearing to that people can get back to enjoying exercising their Second Amendment freedom.

If you are a W. Boylston resident, please plan on attending the next hearing in support of Wayne at the West Boylston Town Offices, 140 Worcester Street, West Boylston, MA.

Also, there is a fundraiser for Wayne at the Kasbar in Worcester, 234 Southwest Cutoff Rd, April 10th from 4:00 - 8:00 PM $10.00 at the door.  Stop by, have dinner, get a raffle ticket and help Wayne offset his legal fees.

Maura Healey Targets ‘Ridiculous’ Gun Culture

First openly gay attorney general says civil rights should be on everyone’s agenda.

Maura Healey has one word to describe the gun lobby — ridiculous.

The Massachusetts attorney general says it’s “ridiculous” the National Rifle Association has so much control over gun rights debates. “Ridiculous” that Congress won’t allow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to study gun violence as a public health issue. And “ridiculous” that people who are a danger to themselves and others can get guns.

“This is a public health crisis in our country and we have a moral imperative to address this issue,” Healey said in an interview.

GOAL note: How can we, as law abiding gun owners expect anything close to equal protection under the law when our top lawyer is going around the state making comments like this?  This is very disappointing for many reasons, is crime in the Commonwealth so low that she has no actual crime to prosecute?
