News and Events
EveryMind Bilingual Therapist, Johan Orjuela, LCSW-C, recently delivered a presentation at the NBC4 Health & Fitness Expo on trauma informed care and being trauma informed. He focused on the shift in thinking from "What's wrong with you?" to "What happened to you?" This change is helping reduce the shame and stigma survivors of trauma feel and is helping to improve treatment of PTSD.

ServingTogether Reaching More Veterans with New Partnership
EveryMind recently launched a partnership with Syracuse University’s Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF) to meet the growing needs of veterans in the National Capital Region. Using the AmericaServes model, successfully deployed in 16 communities across the country, the IVMF/EveryMind partnership will enhance collaboration among service providers, government agencies and other community resources; while ensuring veterans and their families are connected to resources more efficiently and effectively than ever before.

Mental Health First Aid
Sometimes First Aid isn’t a bandage, CPR, administering the Heimlich or calling 9-1-1. Sometimes First Aid is YOU.

Mental Health First Aid is an 8 hour training designed for anyone to learn the skills they need to be there for someone in a crisis. We have trained business leaders, staff, students, parents and clinicians. This invaluable training teaches you how to help someone who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis.

To learn more or to sign up or to schedule a training, contact Laura Laskofski.
