The Value of Volunteer Time

According to a recent study, the value of an hour of volunteer time in 2016 was $24.90.  At this rate, the time volunteers gave to the the Friends Program had a  value of over $6 million

We know that it is very difficult to put a dollar value on our volunteers time.  Friends volunteers provide many intangibles that can not be easily quantified.

A big thank you to all our volunteers.

Thank You to Our 2017 Business Sponsors

The Friends Program would like to thank Bank of New Hampshire for being a Presenting Sponsor for 2017.  According to Tiffany Baert, Pubic Relations Officer:

"Bank of New Hampshire is proud to support the Friends Program with funding towards emergency housing and youth mentoring. It is organizations such as this that make our communities a better place to live."

We would like to thank Granite Investment
Advisors for being a Youth Mentoring Program Sponsor for 2017.
According to Scott Schermerhorn, Managing Principal and Chief Investment Officer:

"Granite Investment Advisors philanthropic mission is children. We believe that its critical for all children to feel that someone cares about them. It can make all the difference in the world. As this is a key mission of the Friends Program we are delighted to be of assistance. Keep up the great work!"
Foster Grandparent & RSVP Federal Funding Proposed to be Eliminated

Our Senior Programs are National Service programs, operated under Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) grant funding combined with a local funding match.

The White House budget request sent to Congress for the fiscal year 2018 budget, starting October 1st, eliminates CNCS and associated programs.

National service is about extraordinary acts of ordinary citizens here in NH. We see this every day in the time given by Foster Grandparents, Caregivers, and RSVP volunteers.

Contact your Congressional Representative and Senators today. Let them know that National Service is important to you and New Hampshire. Encourage them to act to ensure that these programs continue to be funded.

Thank you for your support.
Congratulations

Friends Youth Mentoring congratulate our 23 high school volunteers from Bishop Brady, Concord High, Hopkinton High, Pembroke Academy, and St. Paul's School, who are now graduating and headed to college.
Their devotion to the children in the mentoring program has been absolutely heartwarming.  They have been strong role models throughout and their young charges have made many gains under their care during the last two years.  We are deeply grateful for their service and wish these great, very bright and talented, young adults all the best life has to offer.
