FOOD NEWS Several places are under construction - a juice bar in the former Reve location and a kosher deli in the former Brea Lu building. Some other storefronts are also under construction. And we have a CSA (farm share) being delivered to Woodfords Church
"We're beyond thrilled to announce that little woodfords will be opening at 643 Forest Ave this summer! As residents, we love our community here in Woodfords Corner and we can't wait to take this next step and meet you all. Get ready for your very own coffee + snack neighborhood shop !"

The Loved Ones by Smith Galtney and Matthew Papa
From the Phoenix "At this new gallery on the edge of town, see a fine dual show between acclaimed Maine shooter Smith Galtney and New York's Matthew Papa, two gay, middle-aged, married men who met while studying at the International Center of Photography. With two distinct styles, The Loved Ones explores identity, family, desire and domesticity, as well as love and partnership during the time of AIDS. Galtney was commissioned by the Frannie Peabody Center in 2014 for a photo series called SeeingME: Profiles of Resilience, highlighting the diverse set of individuals representing the HIV/AIDS community in Maine."
We'll walk down the tracks and pick up the trash that gets blown all over during the year. In partnership with Pan Am Railroad and City of Portland Public Works department, we'll spend 2 hours on a Tues evening getting to know our neighbors and cleaning up our hood. Fun and easy.
CITY AND GOVERNMENT
Bids are in for the transportation construction project. Things should start sometime in August. As soon as we know, we'll get information out to residents and businesses. We probably won't get another traffic officer like this one who was on duty in WC for decades. It's always been a complicated intersection.
We love help in any form. Friends spread the word and support the local businesses and organizations; volunteers do the organization and event work; partners are organizations that work with us on projects and sponsors give us goods or cash donations. So there are many ways to help the neighborhood.
Please consider joining us.
Thanks for your interest in Friends of Woodfords Corner.
