A place where all abilities shine
New friendships were formed in the
Adaptive Sports Foundation's Race4All
On January 20, 2018, the Adaptive Sports Foundation hosted the Race4All sponsored by the Dralla Foundation. The goal of the race was to promote inclusion between the abled bodied and disabled communities as well as raise awareness of the ASF's athletes. The ASF teamed up with the Windham Race Factory and paired ASF Race Team athletes with kids from the Windham Race Factory. Click below hear in one Race Factory athlete's words what the Race4All meant to him and how he made a new friend.

The Mountain Top Round Up
Snowboard friends
team up for a cause

Patrick, who was born with hemiplegia on his left side, started snowboarding with the ASF when he was a young boy. He quickly progressed and began competing on the ASF race team. Patrick has gone on to compete nationally and internationally with the hope of competing in the 2022 Winter Paralympics. Patrick met Sailor, who is a Windham Mountain Resort snowboard instructor, in 2014 on the slopes of WMR. The rest is history. The two of them share both a passion for snowboarding and a birthday. This year, when Patrick turned 18 and Sailor turned 17, they decided at their joint party in Windham to ask guests for donations to the ASF and the Catskill Mtn Series association. Patrick and Sailor's generosity raised over $500 for the ASF. Thank you both and good luck to Patrick in his goal to reach the Paralympic Games in Beijing in 2022!
Mission Possible
To become the best ski instructors ever!

My name is Holly Teti, and I am a junior instructor with the Adaptive Sports Foundation. The Junior Instructor program is for 14-15 year olds who are interested in being selected to be a volunteer instructor with the ASF when they turn 16. We meet for trainings on every Sunday during the ski season. Our sessions cover instructing basics like the beginner progression, but we also spend a good amount of time developing our own skiing abilities. We learn about specific adaptive equipment like the bi-ski or how to “adapt” the beginner progression to students depending on their disabilities...
One proud dad
By Rich Elder, Zach's dad

At the 2018 X Games in Aspen, CO the team of Gretchen Bleiler and Zachary Elder competed in the Special Olympics Unified Slalom event at the X games in Aspen. They competed fearlessly and unfortunately missed the podium by 1/10th of a second and first place by only 5/10ths of a second. It was truly an exciting race with comradery and fierce competitiveness. Gretchen was marvelous and what I found out in speaking with her several times and watching her with my son and the other competitors is that she is truly a wonderful person with a big heart.   She is also very, very, very fast. This was Zach's third time at the X Games ...

Chef John Haskell joins the ASF's Warriors in Motion Master Chef Celebration as Co-Chair and Host

The Master Chef Celebration is an amazing opportunity to experience the cuisine of dozens of New York City’s most well-known chefs and restaurants. It will be an evening spent tasting signature dishes and fine wines, and includes a live and silent auction. This year, on May 2nd at the Metropolitan Pavilion NYC, we are excited to welcome  Chef Jeff Haskell  of Trademark Taste + Grind and past Food Network Iron Chef winner who will serve as the night’s MC and Event Co-Chair. Jeff’s passion for all things food related was sparked as a young child cooking along side his mother. He always knew he wanted to be a Chef...
