FRITZ BULTMAN: THE MISSING IRASCIBLE

(New York - May 6, 2013) Edelman Arts is delighted to extend its current exhibition, "Fritz Bultman: The Missing Irascible" through May 18, 2013. The exhibit is a comprehensive exhibition of recently re-discovered work by historic American Abstract Expressionist Fritz Bultman (1919 - 1985). The exhibit explores a multi-faceted body of work that spanned more than four decades, from the heyday of Abstract Expressionism in the late 1940s and 1950s to the close of his career in the mid 1980s.

"Abstract expressionist Fritz Bultman (1919-1985) was an artist of many facets. His works span from sculptures and oil paintings to paper collages and stained glass windows. He was also part of The Irascibles -- a group of 18 American abstract artists who protested against the Metropolitan Museum of Art's conservative bias against avant-garde abstract art for its "American Painting Today - 1950" exhibition and the accompanying competition. Bultman's wide range of works from his four-decade career are rediscovered in "The Missing Irascible" at Edelman Arts. Most of these large-scale oil painting and paper collages have not been exhibited for several years. BLOUIN ARTINFO spoke with curator Asher Edelman and author Charles Riley to discover more about Bultman's artworks and the life of the elusive artist."
