Pastor's Message

Dear Friends in Faith,

How often do you think about money? Or worry about money? Most of us think and worry about money more than we want to in the course of our lives. I know that money can mean quite different things to us.

For  some of us, having money gives us a sense of security, especially when we know we have enough for what we need. For others, money means having the freedom to do and enjoy the things that we want to enjoy. And, for some, money is a score card, telling us how well we’ve done based on our successes and accomplishments in life....

Youth Auction Donations Needed
Come to the Youth Mission Dinner and Auction Fundraiser on Sunday, February 26. Tickets go on sale soon, but now we need donations from local businesses. Gift cards to local restaurants and resorts; themed baskets; concert or sporting event tickets, or travel packages will help the youth raise funds for their mission trips and youth choir tour. Email Christopher Wurpts at christopher@pvumc.org or text/call him at 712-348-3791, Thank you!

Roundtable on Welcoming - Feb 12
On Sunday, February 12, at 12:15 pm, we invite you to join us for a light lunch and a discussion on proposed welcoming statements. If you would like lunch, please email Betty Price by February 10. This will be the last of our Roundtable discussions as we seek to come to a consensus on how to invite those on the margins of our society and the UMC, particularly those in the LGBTQ community.

Pathways Spring 2017 Semester
The Pathways Spring 2017 offerings include several paths you can take on your spiritual journey of the heart, mind, soul and strength.

International Mission Team Stakeholders - Strength:
PVUMC is sending two mission teams to Latin America this March, and we invite you to become a 2017 Stakeholder to support their mission work in Costa Rica and Guatemala (March 4-13).  The Costa Rica team continues its partnership with the Methodist Orphanage of Costa Rica, Hogar Metodista and the Guatemala team will lead a medical team to provide medical services to people in rural areas. Both teams will hold Vacation Bible Camp programs. A gift of $25 or more helps pay for supplies.  The Guatemala Team is also collecting prescription eyeglasses for the eye clinic. Donate your glasses in the labeled box in the church office.
