This Sunday, we welcome guest speaker and bestselling author and parenting expert, Dr Kevin Leman, for our National Back to Church Sunday, and encourage you to purchase tickets for his follow-up seminars. Dear Friends,

There are so many demands on families these days. The pressures can feel immense in terms of schedules, juggling the priorities of work and home, growing and maintaining loving relationships.  There are negative and sometimes evil forces in our culture that try to work their way into our lives.  And whether you are married or single, have kids or not, we are all surrounded by these pressures and often have to respond to them.  They affect our extended families, our good friends, our church family.  I'm grateful to have Dr. Kevin Leman with us to share his biblical wisdom this Sunday...

Looking Ahead: September 21, 2014
We invite you to download the latest weekly Looking Ahead that includes information to keep you up-to-date on everything happening at PVUMC. It also includes interactive links directing you to more information about upcoming events and programs, as well as email links to people you can connect with for more information or to get plugged into our many ministries.

Dr. Kevin Leman, our special speaker for National Back to Church Sunday on September 21, will be offering three follow-up workshops at 5 pm Sunday and on Monday, September 22. We encourage you to click here to buy tickets online. 

PATHWAYS 

Last Sunday, September 14, we kicked off our fall 2014 Pathways program. If you haven't picked up a guidebook yet, download one here.  Pathways is our approach to faith formation and spiritual growth for adults at PVUMC, and we recently created a new logo for the program (thanks, Christopher Wurpts!) and have a new tagline: Growing, Deepening, and Living our Faith (thank you, Pathways Task Force!) 


 
Invite a Friend Back to Church Sunday

Join us for National Back to Church Sunday on September 21 when we welcome special guest speaker, Kevin Leman. Dr Leman is a bestselling author and a parenting / relationship expert. Not sure how to invite someone? Watch the video below for one approach that might work:

Worship at PVUMC

Our bulletins for the 8 and 9:30 am worship services are published online at our website. Our new 11:15 am worship celebration is briefly outlined there as well, but the service is designed to be "bulletin free." We encourage you to use the screens to follow worship both in the Chapel and in the Sanctuary. If you prefer having the full order of worship, you may download your copy for the 8 am service here or for the 9:30 am service here. We celebrate communion at all services this Sunday.

 

If you have access to a computer, tablet or smart phone, you can go to our website to view our events calendar, get more details about programs, and subscribe to the weekly Paradise E-News to see what's happening at PVUMC every week. We also publish back issues of the E-News, Looking Ahead, bulletins and Desert Scroll, our bimonthly newsletter. The August/September issue is available online, and in the kiosks on campus. 
  

At 11:15 am, we offer a distinctive alternative to our 8 and 9:30 am traditional worship services. Ignite, transform and connect with God and others in the community. If you would like to join us for a time of prayer before the service, join our small group at 11 am in a room near the Chapel. Please look for signs. All are welcome.

 


SUNDAY SCHOOL
Children age 2 through 6th grade have Sunday School classes at 9:30 am every Sunday.  Mini-Singers and Children's Choir rehearse after Sunday School. Please check the church calendar online for times and rooms.



LIBRARY OFFERINGS
Martha Rinne has provided a list of books by Dr Kevin Leman that are available in the church library, Room G2. Download your copy of the list here.

FAMILY WORSHIP
Every Sunday at 11:15 am worship, we invite you to worship with your children. Praise Paks are available as you enter, and we have a special children's corner set up in the Chapel during worship. Join us for IGNITE at 11:15 am.

CELEBRATION SUNDAY
Join us for heavenly music, food and fun on Celebration Sunday, September 28, following each worship service, 9 am-1 pm in the Fellowship Center. Stilt walkers, jugglers, and balloon artists will entertain us as we dine on homemade dishes made by you and other church friends at our potluck. Please plan on bringing 2 of your favorite dishes to share. We'll also have hot dogs and root beer floats. Invite a friend!

The Paradise Perk is open on Sundays, 9 am-1 pm. We invite you to stop by for some of the best smoothies, iced tea and coffee in town. What's even better is that all proceeds benefit Youth Ministry and Missions.

UMOM WALK

The UMOM Walk for Homeless Families is right around the corner, on September 27, 2014 at the Phoenix Zoo. Please join or donate to the PVUMC team by clicking here. We hope to raise $4,000 in support of homeless familiies and register 60 participants for this event. Right now, we are almost halfway there! Help show God's Love in Action.
