Sex Trafficking Day at the Capitol

As part of Human Trafficking Awareness Month in January, January 26 was once again declared Sex Trafficking Awareness Day at the capitol.

Advocates from all over the state joined together to bring attention to the lack of services and programming available to survivors.

The Covering House was among those organizations meeting with legislators and discussing the issue with reporters. Jefferson City station KRCG interviewed Executive Director Lindsey Ellis and Administrator of Community Services Sherrita Allen on issues facing survivors. Click here to see the story

Red For Refuge Gala is March 11!

The Covering House Inaugural Red For Refuge Gala will be the event of the year! Mark your calendars to attend on Saturday, March 11 at the Danforth Plant Science Center. Tim Ezell will serve as Master of Ceremonies, and the gala chair is Lorrie Isringhausen.

Why red? The color red  is energizing; it is confident and strong-willed. It is the color of energy, confidence, and action. Our theme,  Red For Refuge,  incorporates the color red to symbolize the strength, determination and empowerment our girls have when they leave our program-as well as the bright futures that lay before them. Wear red to support their accomplishments!

The gala features a cocktail hour with open bar, dinner, dessert, silent auction and a live auction. VIP ticket upgrades include private Danforth Center tours, private lounge, and photo opportunity with Mrs. Missouri 2016 Lauren Ziegler.

Tickets are available online, or download a Registration Form and submit your payment by mail.

Join us for a night of food, fun, and philanthropy!

The Covering House to Present @ National Conference

We are thrilled that our Executive Director Lindsey Ellis, Administrator of Education Andrea Ellis, and our Administrator of Community Services Sherrita Allen will be presenting at the 61st Annual Conference of the Association of Children's Residential Centers in April.

The trio will discuss our Reducing the Risk program in a presentation entitled "Reducing the Risk of Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children." This is an incredible honor for TCH, and brings the plight of survivors--and The Covering House--to the national stage.

In 2016, TCH provided the Reducing The Risk program to educators, community organizations, and over 460 students.
