May 2017
FROM THE GROUND UP
THE BUILDING MANAGEMENT NEWSLETTER
The month of May brings two of my favorite events, both celebrating the diversity of the Stanford community.   The Stanford American Indian Organization and the Stanford Powwow Planning Committee host the 46th Annual Stanford Powwow, May 12-14th, in the Eucalyptus Grove, at Galvez and Campus Drives. And, the annual Stanford Multicultural Springfest will be held on Thursday, May 25th, from 11 am until 1 pm, on Manzanita Field.  Come out and enjoy the music and food!

There was a good turn-out for the Building Manager training class, Active Threat, on April 25 th .  If you would like to schedule this informative class for your group, contact Vincent Bergado, Program Coordinator, Department of Public Safety   [email protected]      One topic discussed was 911 Emergency Dispatch Operator communication. If you ever need to call for help, be calm and give as much information as you can, including your location.  Here on campus, we tend to call buildings by their quad and building number, or by the building's popular name.  If you need police or fire response, you must state the ADDRESS of the building.  To find out the address of the building where you work or ones you often frequent, here is the link-   Campus Addresses

To more effectively route calls received by the LBRE Operations Center (650-723-2281), the call process has been changed. The intent is to streamline work order processing.

A great saying for an Event Coordinator is one of Erika's favorite - "When something goes wrong in your life just yell 'plot twist' and move on."
