Schools Out For Summer...
don't panic, we've loads for you to do with your little ones!
Summer of fun

With children in their last term before the long summer holiday, understandably parents are starting to think about how to keep them entertained over the break.

Performing arts is a natural way for children to learn while they are having fun and Razzamataz is offering children between the ages of 4-16 the opportunity to use their imaginations and work with experienced actors, musicians and dancers during their Summer Schools.

During the week, children and their teachers will work on various songs, dances and drama pieces, together with learning about theatre skills in general. Being given the chance to perform is paramount to building a child's confidence which is why on the last day, the children will all get the opportunity to perform their showcase to friends and families.

Have a magical summer

Playing outside until dinner time, climbing trees and making dens. These are all memories we cherish from our own childhoods. However, our children are experiencing very different summers as so many of them are choosing to spend their time indoors, attached to their tablets and computers.

We want to reverse this trend. Here at the Canal & River Trust we want children to reclaim their childhood, head outside and enjoy the adventures that are right on their doorstep. It's time to stop exploring virtual worlds and embrace the real world.

To help you enjoy a summer of adventures we've produced a free activity booklet, which is packed full of great ideas for fun days out. From making your own binoculars to leaving tracks with sticks and making leaf boats, there's plenty to take inspiration from.

The benefits of outdoor play really can't be over-estimated. Head outside with your kids and we bet you'll all make lasting memories, laugh together and even sleep better. What are you waiting for?

Come nose-to-nose with British wildlife past and present!

Wildwood Escot is East Devon's conservation and wildlife treasure, with its winding woodland paths and beautiful flowers, creating the perfect environment for our collection of native and formerly-native wildlife.

Start your adventure by picking up a free visitor map, guiding you around over 200 acres of stunning parkland where guinea fowl and majestic peacocks roam freely. Meet rare red squirrels in our walk-through enclosure, test your orientation with our world-class beech hedge maze, and marvel at our birds of prey displays. Navigate the vast woodland, stumbling across our wildcat and lynx enclosures, and discover Jurassic Pork where wild boar and their piglets roll around in the mud!

With a hidden playground, a heart-stopping drop slide and an indoor play barn all to be discovered, Wildwood Escot is the perfect place for a family day out.

Junior Game Creator Summer Code Camps

Do you know a budding game designer? There is no doubt that nurturing an interest in computer science, coding and creating technology is going to become even more important as our children grow up. Many traditional methods, however, can dampen their enthusiasm.

What Is Junior Game Creators? Junior Game Creators  is a fun and educational workshop designed to nurture an interest in computer science through a child's passion for games and video games. Kids love playing video games but we take that enthusiasm and teach them how to create their very own.

What do they do on a workshop? Our game creators are challenged to create their own video games and are given constructive feedback from the group to improve. They will have made 2-3 games from Scratch during the day.

Workshops across Surrey, Kent, Middlesex and Essex throughout the summer holidays learn more at www.junior gamecreators.co.uk.
