Legacy Society Dinner Honors Endowment Fundholders
|
MORE THAN 200
Foundation donors gathered at Wake Forest Biotech Place last week for our annual Legacy Society dinner, a chance for the Foundation to honor those who have already established permanent charitable funds at the Foundation or those who have made such provisions after their lifetimes.
The
Winston-Salem Community Innovation Lab
, a Foundation Community Grant recipient, was highlighted during the dinner program. In 2016-2017, the Lab brought together diverse stakeholders from multiple sectors to address inequities in employment, income, and wealth in our community. The Lab wrapped up earlier this year, but stay tuned for innovative programs that have evolved from its efforts, such as
HUSTLE Winston-Salem
.
We thank our Legacy Society donors for making such innovative programs possible! For more information on
Legacy Society
membership, please contact

Nonprofits: we will continue to provide capacity-building and capital campaign grants for a wide range of program areas. The 2018 application deadlines for these grants will be on
March 1 and

C. Edward Pleasants, Jr. Lifetime Achievement Award is Established
|
|
COMMUNITY LEADER
and former Foundation Committee Chair Ed Pleasants was recently honored with the establishment of this award, to be held as a Foundation endowment. This Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented periodically by the Foundation Committee to recognize a Forsyth County resident who has a passion for the community, exemplifies visionary community leadership, and has made a profound and lasting impact on Forsyth County and its people. The award, which will be presented at an undetermined time in the future, will provide a grant to a local charity of the recipient's choice.
A group of community leaders is currently raising funds to endow the award, which was announced at a recent event to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the former Southern National Bank's (now BB&T) relocation to Winston-Salem, a process which Pleasants led. Mayor Allen Joines (pictured above with Ed Pleasants) also proclaimed November 8, 2017 to be C. Edward Pleasants, Jr. Day in the city. Congratulations to Ed Pleasants on behalf of a grateful community!
