TRI-TAYLOR SPRING CLEANUP
Last Saturday, IMD staff and our families joined several hundred members and supporters of the Tri-Taylor community for its spring neighborhood cleanup event, Mission: Clean & Green. The mission of the event was to clean up public spaces in the neighborhood we work and live in.
IMD STAFF & FAMILIES
The Tri-Taylor spring cleanup event was part of a city-wide beautification day in observance of Earth Day. We'd like to thank Tri-Taylor Community Association board member and Mission: Clean & Green Chair Dayna Stinson for inviting the IMD to participate in this wonderful event.
IMD CEO PUBLISHES EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS BOOK
Suzet McKinney, DrPH, MPH (CEO/Executive Director, Illinois Medical District) and Mary Elise Papke, DrPH, MPH (Senior Public Health Specialist, UWM Joseph J. Zilber School of Public Health) have teamed up to author a new book, just published by Jones & Bartlett Learning. The book, Public Health Emergency Preparedness: Practical Applications for the Real World, is a comprehensive examination of the critical competencies necessary to prepare for and respond to Public Health emergencies.

Starting with a historical context of the early preparedness need, the book defines emergency preparedness and the legal framework for the field. The book goes on to cover the full range of the field from hazards and threats to considerations for leadership development in the field. It includes information on roles and responsibilities of local, state, and national organizations, the cycle of practice for preparedness officials, as well as principles of incident management and response; and finally, considerations for leadership development in the field.

IMD GUEST HOUSE ANNUAL GOLF OUTING
On Wednesday, August 8, IMD Guest House will host its eighth annual golf outing and fundraiser. The event includes 18 holes of golf, lunch, an awards dinner, games of skill and more. It will take place at Seven Bridges Golf Club in Woodridge, Illinois.

Support for the event contributes to the Comfort Fund, which provides financial assistance to IMD Guest House guests who cannot afford the nightly rate. The Comfort Fund ensures that no one is turned away during their time of need.  Over the past two years, the golf outings have raised over $100,000 for the Comfort Fund.
