Preparing adults with disabilities for the workforce: When young adults with disabilities graduate from the public school system, they are left with limited opportunities for development. In fact, they are provided less of an educational path than typical graduating seniors. A new model emerges that focuses on long-term development and growth for this major piece of our population, and the possibilities are endless.
Diversity & Inclusion: While the conversation of Diversity and Inclusion in the workforce is happening more regularly, people with intellectual disabilities aren't typically included. Why? What is lacking is education and training for the employers and community. Michael Thomas, Executive Director of My Possibilities and a graduate of SMU, will discuss how we can establish an educational model that supports the inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities.
