Dear Families:

Re-enrollment for returning families has come to a close. Families who have not communicated their intent for next year were contacted. The classes of 2028 (TK) and 2027 (Kindergarten) have been formed. We continue to test and interview prospective students and families for all grades.  Please share with friends the Good News of OLMC School. And please encourage families to consider applying to our school at school.mountcarmel.org/admissions/apply-to-mount-carmel-school. These are exciting times for Our Lady of Mount Carmel School! Thank you, families, for getting the word out that GREAT things are happening at this school. I attribute this success to strong academics in a safe, faith-filled learning environment where each child is celebrated, challenged and welcomed.

One of the school's most successful programs is the tuition assistance program, a line item of the operating budget since 1991. When the present year's budget was set, it was important to make every effort possible to maintain a viable tuition assistance program that supports today's families and ensures support in years to come. For the 2018/19 school year, we have allocated $95,000 of tuition assistance, $25,000 from the operating budget and $70,000 from restricted funds, a fund we must always build if we are to maintain the richness and strength of our vibrant, diverse learning community.
To be considered for tuition assistance it is necessary for a family to submit Our Lady of Mount Carmel School's application online,  as well as a TADS application with information from your 2017 tax return. TADS calculates the family's ability to pay and sends a report to the school. These numbers are looked at carefully, along with any unusual or special circumstances that might give a family reason to submit aid forms. Special circumstances in the past have included children in private high school, loss of employment, daycare expenses, family changes, medical emergencies and number of children attending our school.

I do not want any family to leave this school for financial reasons. I want to talk to you if you have financial constraints that would impede your family from continuing  at Our Lady of Mount Carmel School. This could be at the start of a school year or any time along the way. I am aware that situations may arise during a school year when a family may need temporary financial assistance. To this end, we leave a small emergency fund for these special cases. Remember, we are here to work with your family.

All applications for assistance must be submitted online. If you don't have ready access to a computer, you are welcome to use one at school. All information is kept confidential. Please call or e-mail me if you have any questions or concerns regarding financial matters for next year.

God's Blessing,

Teresa Anthony
