yellow-leaves-tree.jpgYou can feel the frost in the air as we move deeper into the fall season. Up to now, fall at the library has been a mix of talented local artists, remarkable music, good books and popular programs. Our Family Monster Mash Dance Party brought out over 70 people for a festive, not too-frightening, celebration. October's Children storytimes were a big success with our youngest readers. Local writers attended a program on getting their work published and a supportive group writing session. The 14th Annual Woodridge Art Show was well received and had a nice write-up in the local paper. A flu-shot clinic we co-sponsored with Walgreens had a steady stream of "patients" who appreciated this free health opportunity.

Health-related opportunities continue each Wednesday afternoon through November 12 as  DuPage County Health Department representatives will be in our lobby offering information on the upcoming Open Enrollment Period related to the Affordable Care Act. Local artists continue to be featured in the Library's Art Gallery as we host the Downers Grove Artists' Guild. See below for more details. National Novel Writing Month continues throughout November and local aspiring authors return on November 22 for another Write-In session. Magic fills the air in the Children's Department as Book Magic starts this week (still time to register!).

New Library Cards exceeded 500 in September. Pictured is a lucky "New Card Raffle" winner!
The frosty weather also reminds us of those in need of assistance this winter. The Woodridge Rotary Club is collecting gently used men's coats in sizes Large through XXXXL (to allow layering) along with gloves, hats and scarves which will be donated to homeless veterans. You will find collection boxes in the Library Lobby.

Finally, mark your calendar for Tuesday, December 2, 7 p.m., when we host historian Jim Gibbons presenting A World Gone Mad: World War II (in honor of Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, December 7). Jim has presented at the library before and promises to be informative and entertaining. We will spend a moment acknowledging and thanking each veteran in attendance.

We are looking forward to all of the fall programs yet to come. By clicking on any of the November events or class links below you can get full details and register. Please join us!
