Meet at the Plaza by Pitchfork in the Park

Join other runners in a 5K run, led by Ultramax Sports Oklahoma , through the scenic downtown area as the sun sets. Those who pay $5 will be entered in a drawing for prizes from Red Coyote Running and Fitness.

Bring your bike and meet up a for a leisurely one-hour ride. Downtown-area routes are specially planned by Schlegel Bicycles . Don’t have a bike? Rent a Spokies! Lights and helmets are required. Those who pay $5 will be entered in a drawing for prizes from Schlegel Bicycles AND everyone who donates will receive a $20 gift coupon!

It’s back to school night. Wear your school colors and be entered into a raffle drawing for a prize!

Celebrate your animals with an ecumenical ceremony to bless your pets at the Gardens. Extreme Animals will show off some of their rare wildlife in a petting area, local clergy will be onsite to bless your animals, the OKC Animal Shelter will have an adoption booth and we will even have a remembrance tree where you can celebrate your pets of the past. A $2 suggested donation is requested for the remembrance tree. Enjoy food from our line of food trucks or grab a bite from Pitchfork in the Park.

The Tallgrass Prairie Preserve, in Osage County, Oklahoma is a true gemstone in our state. With 2,500 bison on the preserve, wildflowers and native grasses galore, it is a sight to behold. The Prairie has extended a special invitation to us for a visit and behind the scenes tour of how things work. We’ll spend most of our day at the prairie visiting the beautiful trails, bison corrals and research center. Then we’ll wrap up our day with a stop off at the Pioneer Woman Mercantile for snacks and a chance to shop.

It’s nearly time to wop, bop, boom and boogie again at the fifth annual Wiggle Out Loud – OKC’s FREE, active-family outdoor music festival presented by The Children’s Hospital at OU Medical Center and benefiting The Children’s Hospital Volunteers. The festival returns this year from 11am to 5pm Sept. 17 at on the Great Lawn. Featured bands this year include folk songstress Sarah Lee Guthrie and EMMY and Latin Grammy nominee Lucky Diaz. Festival favorites back again this year include “kindie” superstars, Sugar Free Allstars, as well as Lucas Ross, ALEGRIA REAL and Adam & Kizzie.
