Learn Fine Silver Fusing AND Chain Making with Betsy Moore-Galinsky, Instructor!  By fusing (not soldering) pure silver rings, you'll create a pair of unique hoop earrings.  Building on your new skill, you'll progress to the chain making stage to construct a simple and elegant bracelet.  It is a lot easier than you think!  You will need at least 5 feet of dead soft, 16 gauge fine silver, which you will purchase from Jamie...she'll have plenty on hand.   She also has ear wires for the hoop earrings you'll be making.  All of the tools you need will be provided. This class is $55.00 plus approximately $35.00 materials.

Micropolis Cooperative Art Gallery will be celebrating both Valentine's Day and Mardi Gras with a special one-day event on Friday, February 10. On display will be a new selection of original artwork by co-op artists Linda Batchelor, Michele Drozd, Susy Easterly, Alexandra Higgins, Linda Hinkle, Michael Intrabartola, Nancy LaPorta, Pavlos Mayakis, Lynda Naske, Judy Olson, Ellen Rae Panero, and Judith Plotner. Find something special for your sweetheart, or treat yourself! Unique Valentine cards and Mardi Gras masks, along with fine handcrafted jewelry will be in the gallery and available for sale. Guest artist Stan Plotner will be in the gallery between 11:30am and 7pm to present his collection of one-of-a-kind silver jewelry. Stan's work has been exhibited nationally as well as in Japan, Australia, and Canada, and in museums including the Museum of Contemporary Crafts in New York City. To conclude the day a "Meet the Artists Reception" will be held between 5 and 7pm. The event is free and open to the public. Micropolis is located inside Mohawk Harvest Cooperative Market, 30 North Main Street, Gloversville.

FM'S PERRELLA GALLERY TO HOST NEW ART EXHIBITION: FULL CIRCLE-AN INSTALLATION BY ERIN KELLY, FMCC Perrella Gallery, 2805 State Highway 67, Johnstown, (518) 736-FMCC, fmcc.edu

The exhibit is a thematic installation of prints, video, sound, art books and objects exploring subconscious memories that have been triggered by childhood ephemera. Kelly, a Johnstown native, earned a Masters of Fine Arts from the State University of California at Chico and has been working with images from childhood memories in a wide variety of mediums for several years. Kelly has exhibited her work in California over the past several years and this is her first solo show on the east coast. The artists' reception will serve light refreshments. Free admission.

Do you need towels, placemats, a runner or scarf? In this workshop you will explore the many possibilities of project design including yarns, colors, weave structure and function of the finished piece. We will write the draft for threading; tie-up and treadling then wind the warp so you can dress your loom at a later date. Requirements: Some previous weaving experience: advanced beginner through intermediate skills. Bring your own warping frame: limited number available in studio. Cost: SVAN member $35. This participant driven, individualized beginner level workshop is for those communicating with text and images in print, Web, and presentations. Start with a simple one-page illustrated newsletter using Microsoft Word and Photoshop Elements, then see how more complex jobs are done with professional Adobe software. Printing, backing up your files, and using photographs are among topics to be discussed and demonstrated. Bring your Mac or Windows laptop with Microsoft Office plus Adobe software if you have it. You can buy lunch nearby or bring it. Maybe re-scheduled in the event of bad weather.

Here at the shop Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 12pm, Jamie will be teaching this highly anticipated class! Intro to PMC : Learn the basics of working with PMC by making 2-3 pendants or charms of your choice. Your pieces will be fired and will be ready for pick up the following business day. Polishing and patina will also be discussed and demonstrated. Due to timing, you will need to polish your pieces at home. ($45 plus materials)

Through V-Day campaigns, local volunteers and college students produce annual benefit performances of The Vagina Monologues.  V-Day is a global activist movement to end violence against women and girls. V-Day is a catalyst that promotes creative events to increase awareness, raise money, and revitalize the spirit of existing anti-violence organizations. V-Day generates broader attention for the fight to stop violence against women and girls, including rape, battery, incest, female genital mutilation (FGM), and sex slavery. Beneficiaries for the 2012 performance are:  Montgomery County Domestic Violence & Crime Victim Services AND The Family Counseling Center's Domestic Violence Program of Fulton County.

The Tequilla Mockingbirds, an acoustic guitar duo of Pete Pashoukos and George Fletcher play blues, jazz and a whole lot more!   The Tequila Mockingbirds were voted the Capital Region's "Best Acoustic Duo" in the Metroland Magazine 2007 and 2008 Readers Poll, and "Best Jazz Musician or Group" in the Albany Times Union's 2008 "Best of the Capital Region" Reader's Poll.

 Seating is limited and reservations are required.  Call Barb at 863-8047.  Concert admission $10 for members/ $12 for nonmembers. A light meal may be purchased starting at 4:00.  The price for the meal is $10.50 including tax and tip. The choices are: Chili with Corn Bread, Minestrone Soup, Roll and Tossed Salad (Vegetarian), Lohi (Finnish Salmon Casserole) with Beet Salad, Dessert: Coffee or Tea.
