Nuttin' Better!!!!!! 5/25/16
Ecclesiastes 2:24 (KJV)
24 There is nothing better for a man, than that he should eat and drink, and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labour. This also I saw, that it was from the hand of God.
For those of you north of the Mason-Dixon line, nuttin' is slang for NOTHING!!
OUR Bible declares "There in NUTTIN' BETTER for a man, than he should eat and drink, and that he should MAKE his soul ENJOY good........!!!!!"
A few years ago, I was AGAIN on one of my nearly constant DIETS-THE ATKINS DIET no less- and was discussing the various temptations to break it.
The person I was talking to was also on the same DIET, but recounted a story that has stuck in my mind and spirit all these years.
She said, "I, too, am dieting and as you well know, candy and sugar is FORBIDDEN on the Atkins Diet.
BUT, I was walking through town the other day and spotted a BABY RUTH candy bar, (MY personal favorite), in the store window.
I managed to RESIST the temptation BUT as I attempted to cross the street, was almost ran over my a big bus!
I turned around, walked into the store, BOUGHT and DEVOURED every single bite of that DELICIOUS candy bar!!!
What good was getting skinny in we may die tomorrow!!???"
Can I get an AMEN!!??
Brethren, too often we live ONLY for tomorrow and fail to REALLY live daily!
WHEN I turn 16, I will get my driver's license!
When I turn 21, I can drink legally.
When I get married, when I have children, when I finish school, when I retire......!!??
The list of "WHEN I" grows longer day after day!!
But LIFE should be ENJOYED both as a JOURNEY and a DESTINATION!!!
And I well understand and agree on "DEFERRED ENJOYMENT!!"
Yes, there are things that need to be long sought for and hard fought to obtain.
We all need to OFTEN, "STOP AND REALLY SMELL/ENJOY the roses!"
My mother-in-law has officially moved into our home and she loves to watch the wild birds.
She and my wife have erected bird feeders in the back yard, and believe it or not, they got ME enjoying watching wild birds.
I am ENJOYING trying to out-smart the yard rats/AKA squirrels and now find myself DAILY making sure the yard rats are thwarted in their quest to obtain free bird food!!??
I LOVE the red birds and hope to attract a blue bird or two?
I may even spring for a hummin'-bird feeder in the near future?
Please note the southern-sens of a HUMMIN' BIRD!
Having way too much time on my hands, I am a ferocious reader of the daily "news" and waste too many hours watching the talking heads nightly.
Oftentimes, I catch a little Joel in the mornings as Amanda gets her "DAILY WORD" from the TV.
Some days I am on the Joel train and other days I agree with "THE PROPHESY NEWSLETTER!"
Some days I honestly believe I will live another 40 years and other days I am convinced Jesus is comin' RIGHT NOW!!!!

There HAS to be a balance between PLANNING for a tomorrow that may or may not come and living for today!!!
An occasional candy bar never killed anybody yet!!??
Who really cares-at this point in life-if the old adage is still true??

I declare TODAY to be a "BE GOOD TO THYSELF DAY!"
I try to take at least ONE DAY a week-MY SABBATH DAY-to relax and NOT work/exercise/study or diet!!!
I MAY or MAY NOT get where I want to get?
I MAY or MAY not accomplish all I hope to achieve?
I have NO CLUE whether success or failure in on my horizon?
BUT, I also know that no one is guaranteed tomorrow!!

15 For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.
